Wow! Just wow! For the first part of this book, I thought this was just another fluffy romance. Boy, did it ever have hidden depths to it. The subject matter is near and dear to so many of us. I loved that it dealt with some really tough issues without making the book darkly depressing. Aiden and Riley were both awesome, flawed, and hurting MCs. This was such a wonderful book of love and healing. The following was my favorite quote from the book:

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying “I will try again tomorrow.”

When Riley joins the Outback Boys group, he is immediately drawn to Aiden. As they spend more time together, their attraction continues to grow. This is a sweet romance novel, but there are some triggers, regarding suicide and mental illness, just as a warning. It is written in Australian English, but most of it is easy to figure out by non-Aussies, like me. Ute is a utility vehicle/pickup truck, and mossies are mosquitoes. Enjoy.

Where do I go? This book was emotional, but beautiful. I love a book that isn’t just a love story, but also deals with real life issues. This one really did. It dug deep, it hurt, but it healed too. And sometimes to heal we have to meet that person that loves us unconditionally. I thought the book was beautifully written. The side characters are great. Ones we met previously and another I hope to see in future books. Definitely a 5 star book for me.

Another outstanding story of love. What a great escape Ms. Seymour provides to her reader in the lives of her realistic characters and the life she creates for them. They become friends as you learn more about who they are, and the paths of their journey to find love. Brilliant work.

sweet & moving

Aiden and Riley meet on an outdoor adventure-- Aiden is a longtime member of the group, Riley is new. They have instant chemistry, and bond over Riley’s adorable awkwardness, among other things (Aiden’s turn to be adorably awkward comes later in the novel). I liked these two a lot, and particularly enjoyed the getting to know each other / falling for each other parts of the book, which showcase their developing emotional bonds. I also really loved Aiden’s grandfather, who is irreverent, rough around the edges, deeply insightful, and unflaggingly supportive. Although this romance definitely has its lighthearted edges, there are also some darker corners, as both Aiden and Riley have traumas in their pasts that shape the people they are and the ways they move through the world. I value the author’s decision to take on subjects like mental illness, loss, and the suicide of a loved one with gentleness and respect. Overall, I found this to be an immersive, sometimes fun, sometimes moving read. To be honest, the only thing about this book I didn’t really enjoy was the mystery surrounding Pete, whose strange behavior brought some dimensions of the psychological thriller to this romance-- even when the reasons for some of his odd behavior were revealed, there was still something so off about him that I bristled every time he showed up on the page. That said, however, I’d still absolutely recommend this book.

Bounce is the second book in Becca Seymour's Outback Boys series, about an LGBTQ outdoors club in Australia. Aiden is the leader of the group and Riley is persuaded to join by a friend of his who is also in the group.

They have an instant connection, but both of them have major issues and trauma from their pasts to work through. Watching them come together is heart wrenching in places, but it's worth all the angst when they eventually get their happy ending. You really feel like they've earned it. And the epilogue is SO good!

There are some difficult and dark themes addressed in Bounce, and because I believe in the importance of talking openly about mental health and depression, I'm always appreciative when authors take care to present the issues with sensitivity, while also normalizing these illnesses. Becca did a great job with this.

I absolutely loved Bounce, and I can't wait to see what the next book in the series will bring.

Aiden is drawn to Riley, the newbie to the Outback Boys group, which surprises everyone because he's usually quite reserved. Both men are wounded from past trauma -- as they both discover over the course of the story -- but eventually find their hearts' home in each other. Of course, their HEA is not without its challenges, the harshest of which causes a brief but extremely painful separation. Riley must freely forgive Aiden's unintended cruelty, and Aiden must come clean in order to regain his place. Only after he tells the story of his own sorrow does Riley understand the reason for his behavior. It makes forgiveness easier, but each must commit to full disclosure and no more secrets. It's a sweet love story.

I just have one question...do Aussies really say "relishing in" and "looking forwards to"? I recognize the other Aussie expressions and just wonder if these two are meant to be counted among the lot since they appear more than once in the story. I don't think that qualifies them as typos.

This story was a low angst, slow burn and a sweet read with a HEA. Riley and Aiden each have a few insecurities of their own to work through to find their way with each other and the topic of depression is dealt with sensitivity. I doubt there’s no family on earth (in this current climate) that hasn’t dealt with someone in this situation. I have a niece who proudly wears a tattoo comma, letting the world know she’s a survivor and tries to make each day a good one. Thank you Becca Seymour for this beautiful story.

I may be biased as I'm a raving fan of Becca Seymour but the reason is because none of her books has ever let me down.
Bounce is honest and raw and deals with issues that need to be destigmatised. The relationship grows organically and I felt every smile and every struggle. I cried more than once and laughed a lot more.
