The story explained the teeming struggle for revenge and control between the Russians and New York mafia familiari. I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this book because it had great potential but changed from it original storyline and became spotty. Aria was 18 years old and engaged to Luca, they get married and the heroine does not want to have sex, so the hero agrees to wait. He agrees to wait for his wife to accept her circumstances but not long, so he sleeps with another woman. The heroine catches him, and says she cant bear the thought of him ever touching her again however;the same night they sleep in the same bed with Aria wishy-washy mind. Aria was whiny, naive, and immature in her dialogue.
The heroine was weak and honestly, I would've respected her more if she tried to escape instead of being a doormat. Luca was a 23 year old dangerous, broody and a killer alpha male. It's like the author wanted him to be all these awesome things like a handsome and hot business man, a taut body with tattoos, an Mafia boss and he ended up just being boring and kind of and idiot. All the teenagers and kids in this book was too much to tolerate and I didn't connect with them. I was shock at the poor editing of this book, it takes you out of the story so frequently and leaves you guessing over what the author really meant to say.
I have read many Mafia novel and this one did not fit the description at all.

The book started out really well, it had a TON of potential, but after the halfway mark it just collapsed. This is suppose to be a possessive mob boss for crying out loud but he literally has maybe 2 "alpha" moments. The sex scenes were literally copied and pasted time and time again. This was NOT erotica, a teenage virgin could write better sex scenes than I got with this book. Like I said, it had promise, but it all fell extremely flat.

I liked the book, not my first mafia either.

Yes he cheated and I hate cheaters. But he never had sex with her at this point and this was a forced marriage not love. So I can over look it to a point. But really if she didn't catch him he would still be doing it. But three days being married, he was already having sex with some one else for two of those days. I wouldn't of had issue so much if it was weeks or months into marriage but really the second day. You know he never got to know her, he didn't rape her but still it's hard to get past the cheating.

What I didn't like was she saw him having sex with a women and that night she is sleeping with him in bed. This is where, I lost respect for her. There was other rooms she could of slept in. Sleeping next to your husband after you just saw him having sex, really. I would of liked her, respected her more if she didn't do this. I thought she had some pride and self respect but nope.

I really ended up liking him in the end. She was ok, sometimes a door mat.

Good book, will read the others.

This book didn't get really good until the last 30% of the story. Aria just really got on my nerves, I mean she complained about things but never did anything about it. I felt like I was reading a young adult book, with the back and forth but sex scenes. I am going 2 skip the second book because it seems to have the same premise but will read the 3rd.

This book was a pleasant surprise. I had not read anything by this author. I stumbled across it as I was looking for a good Mafia read. I tried a sample first to see if I would like it. I couldn't click buy fast enough ... I did not even finish the sample.

The story starts with Aria Scuderi and Luca Vitiello being bound together to unite two Mafia families. This is what pulled me in the most. The two are married and do not even know each other. They get to know each other while figuring out married life.

Aria Scuderi is a strong female character. My heart was drawn to her and her situation. The beginning of the story leads you to believe that she is weak. Although she has to follow rules dictated by her father, she is feisty and determined with her husband.

Luca Vitiello is an alpha male to the fullest. In the beginning, his vibe is more jerk than anything else. He is protective of Aria while keeping his distance from her. As he beginnings to spend more time with Aria, his character becomes more interesting. His balance between marriage and his duties of the Mafia also add depth to the story.

The story being the first in the series introduces us to many secondary characters. The members of the different Mafia families are interesting. I'm excited to see how their stories play out in the rest of the series.

If you are looking for a great romance with a Mafia alpha male, this book is for you.

Thank you, Cora Reilly. I love this book. I can't wait for the rest of the series.

Reading a five star book, but then the author had to go and screw it up.
Spoilers

Luca agreed to give Aria time before they consummated their marriage, and you thought oh he actually cares about her. Wrong, he was out screwing around the whole time, she catches him and forgives him in two hours. Aria had absolutely no backbone what so ever, as soon as Luca took her to the bedroom that's all she cared about. Everything Luca did was ok as long as he gave her pleasure. I know the mafia is a brutal business, but I was disappointed Aria had no problem with any of the murder or cheating or anything else. Hopefully Gianna will have a little more backbone in her story.
