If you love the mysterious, Alpha hero with a tragic past then Ryker Steele is your man. He’s a hardcore, DEA agent, who has been living off the grid for a few years. He’s also a tormented guy with a conscience that’s gone AWOL. He’d just as soon leave your sorry ass to die in a snowdrift in the middle of the woods than help you out. Although, it’s kind of a necessity when you’ve been considered dead for three years. No traces left behind and all that. But when his high-tech surveillance cameras pick up a car gone off the icy road, his gut tells him to break protocol. What he finds is a woman who catapults him back in time, and reopens wounds and feelings that haven’t quite been forgotten or healed yet. She also ignites his desire, unleashing a dirty talking, irresistibly sexy, and intriguing man.
Lyra Harper is also somewhat of a mystery. On the surface, she’s a beautiful young woman with a devoted boyfriend, loving parents, normal job. Her last thoughts were of succumbing to an icy death in her crashed car. She’s relieved when she wakes up in Ryker Steele’s cabin.Read more ›
There was clearly more of a suspense element to this novel. And there were more twists than a fairground ride. So much so, that at times, it was a little difficult to keep up.
That said, the character development and connections were both cohesive and electric. I am not generally a big fan of love triangle scenarios, but that extra dimension made a difference to the overall narrative, and turned what could have been a mediocre read into something a little more enticing.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is the most captivating of stories and that is wholly down to the quality with which the author has brought the characters to life, she has infused them with such amazing charisma, given the story so much detail and their situation a sexy edge that I just couldn’t help myself, I was hooked.
Ryker has an air about him that I just wanted more of so how Lyra felt made perfect sense to me.
Crashing her car, is just the start of the adventure she has with the gorgeous Ryker. And what a trip it was!
This was a beautifully descriptive and gloriously emotional story.
The connection between Lyra and Ryker almost defied description, the book showed both points of view, it gave a great insight into what was going on inside their heads.
I really could waffle on for ages but I wouldn’t be doing anyone any favours because this is a fantastic journey with two very eclectic individuals, a journey that is stuffed and I really do mean stuffed with mystery, and intrigue.
Their story is not straightforward by any stretch of the imagination, but then again their initial meeting wasn’t exactly an everyday occurrence.
I loved the way that Lyra slowly peeled back the layers of Ryker, the cloak that he wore so well slowly unwrapped and we got to see the most amazing man…and it didn’t hurt that he was drop dead sexy.
There were elements of the books that caught me unawares. And that had me frantically turning the pages.
I would like to congratulate the author on what I have to say is a thoroughly enjoyable book, it had everything I could have every wanted as a reader and that is no mean feat!
Lafortune brings her characters to life; they’re richly developed and slowly revealed as the main characters get to know one another. Ryker Steel is an enigmatic hunk of a former DEA agent. He’s been off the grid for a few years, and he wants to keep it that way. No muss, no fuss, no witnesses. His one exception is the luscious Lyra who miraculously survives a crash on an icy road near him. These two have chemistry like a match and gasoline! I loved that even though these two were electric together, Lyra didn’t blindly fall into the arms of a stranger who rescued her!
Lafortune’s writing style is wonderfully dark and edgy—perfect for this sort of adventure-suspense. Bound by Steel does require a bit a suspension of disbelief, and it has a Mission Impossible feel to it. Lafortune beautifully paints the scene; I felt like I was dropped into a snowy, frigid landscape while reading.
Bound by Steel is a gripping tale of intrigue and passion. I was needles and pins reading through each riveting twist!

It's a good book , nice premise , plenty of hot scenes. But it was quite convoluted with WAY too many side characters and side plots that were unnecessary and distracting . Read morePublished 3 months ago by Maryland girl
