Leon and Cassidy are interested characters. The writing is good. I normally don't read "science fiction" type books but being one of the authors is Alexis, I gave it a shot and glad I did. You know you're dealing with a great author that can switch up their style and still pull you in.
Give the book a shot. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
Leon has been looking for a place to just rest and regain his strength. He can't believe his luck when he finds a nearly abandoned bunker with steel doors and only a frightened teenage girl inside. He immediately assesses her and knows she will submit to him as long as he promises to protect her. He takes her virginity and then proceeds to teach her to serve him. He knows the bunker will not remain safe for long, but he has a plan.
The story is, of course, an excuse for a lot of sex as Leon uses submissive Cassidy's fear of being left alone to mold her as he wants. Since she is the only live human we ever meet the entire time, this makes some kind of sense. Leon knows he will need more than food and shelter to survive for long, he will need companionship. Who better than a scared virgin to take over and make into the woman of his dreams?
The story was ok, but kind of insulting to women. I just wanted to smack both of them most of the time. The journey from the city added some drama, but the ending was rather unbelievable.
I was given an ARC of this book. My review is voluntary.
Cassie does seem whiny at times but, let’s face it, she was a sheltered little rich girl so the whole world ending thing pretty much threw her for a loop!! Yay think??? Great story idea, great writing. Anything these authors touch keeps me reading way past my bedtime!
