About the Author
Doug Carlyle grew up in Urbana, Illinois where he graduated from the University of Illinois with, of all things for a novelist, a degree in electrical engineering. After a circuitous journey that took him through 26 glorious years in the semiconductor industry, he began writing great fiction. He also married, raised a family, and relocated to the Central Texas Hill Country. Against this backdrop of mountains, valleys, live water, and wildlife, he is writing fiction intended to touch all of his readers in a very special way. Never being able to choose just one pastime, he continues to practice his 30-year long medical ministry as a paramedic, while filling in the gaps in his calendar writing, signing, or selling his books. Doug is a member of the Writers' League of Texas and the Houston Writers Guild. You may learn more about him at www.dbcarlyle.com .

Boundaries is a thrilling, chilling tale of how the mind can be manipulated and controlled. It is also very deceiving at the start, where the author lulls us into actually liking Mickey and being happy for Diane that she has found such a man after the death of her husband. But then, little by little, we come to understand that he has another agenda...
The first part of the story takes place in Asia. The setting is described in such vivid detail that you feel the torrid heat, the tropical winds and taste the food. The sex scenes are sensual, languid, seductive. The violence is so shocking it makes you gasp.
The second part, set in Texas, is probably the best part of the book. Here we get to see the result of Mickey's betrayal of Diane and the intricate way he sets out to destroy her. Will she be able to fight back? Can she wake up from this nightmare? I was glued to the latter part of this story in such a way that it occupied my mind all day, until I could pick it up again.
The story is shocking, riveting and truly compelling, in every sense. If you want to be jolted out of your humdrum daily existence- read it! Not for the faint-hearted but truly for the more adventurous reader.
I was gifted this book before publication by the author, for which I'm very grateful
