What I enjoyed most about Bounty is Liam will do anything to protect April at any costs. That while its his job to get to her and learn about her father, he finds things they have in common and they get close and enjoy spending time together. I enjoyed how April wasnt a damsel in distress and how she could handle herself, handle a gun and be a badass. I enjoyed watching them fall for each other, even tho they were not trying and kept on thinking and wanting to leave the other. Thinking each other deserved better then they could give.
This book was fantastic, a very fast and easy read. I was so entertained from page to page.. I had to see what was going to happen next. Its a story of Mafia, gangsters, and a badass Bounty Hunter that wanted to do this last job to catch the bad guy to make the town safer before he retired. Liam didnt expect to find love in the process. This is a love story. If you like stories like this, then Bounty is a must!!
I received a ARC in return for my honest review!
I enjoyed the story…but it wasn’t perfect.
Liam is a bounty hunter who secretly works for the FBI off the books. His latest target is a shop believed to launder money for Devlin Sullivan, a millionaire gangster and head of the Irish mob in Boston. He will do whatever it takes to get his mark and in this case the mark turns out to be Devlin’s daughter April.
April has been trained from a young age to not talk about her father or her real name to anyone, but with Liam she does just that. Turns out she doesn’t really have a clue who her father is, but suddenly it all clicks and she tells Liam everything. Of course Liam knows all this since he knows more about her father than she does. But how will he be able to get a meet with his bounty and will he be able to capture the wanted man and steal the heart of the woman at the same time.
I really enjoyed the story, but did find a few inconsistencies. Like he says he couldn’t take her back to his place since it didn’t have a couch and he couldn’t have her near his bed. Then later he lays her down on the couch. Then while they are at his place she says he ties her to her bed. There were more, but that gives you the idea. Very simple editing errors which hopefully have been fixed. Also how April suddenly pieces together how she has a special red phone to call her dad, and how she sends him money to “pay him back”, and how her mother died mysteriously…..so suddenly and realizes what her father really is, but then trusts this stranger, Liam, and tells him exactly who he is….it just didn’t sit well with me. How to go from clueless to trusting a near stranger with your family’s secrets was a bit of a leap for me. Also the way they both kept secrets, yet completely trusted each other at the same time was a bit troublesome for me.
All that being said, I actually did enjoy the story and would love to read more from Aubrey St. Clair.
