The book leaves the reader with a comprehensive understanding of the bourbon distillers and the nuanced product they produce. Along with that, Offringa tells the very human story of various blues artists and manages to link each one to s specific bourbon. The connection, spot on every time, motivated me to take up his suggestions!
How can one pass up enjoying the two art forms together? For example, one could settle in (as I have) and begin with a tasting of Woodford Reserve while listening to B.B King's "The Thrill is Gone." The pleasure of "Bourbon and Blues" continues long after the initial reading!
