Both types of softbox come with a Bowens Speedring to support the softbox rods and an adapter for Bowens flash heads. One remark, though: the inner shape is such that a recessed flash tube will only project forward, unlike cheaper adapter rings I have which allow for a wider angle of light.
This makes this ring more adapted to smaller softboxes than for instance very long strip boxes.
Update: I just uploaded a few pictures showing a comparison between this ring used with the Calumet folding ring, next a a much cheaper Photodiox set that came with a strip box.
As you can see, although the Bowens ring is less recessed than the Photodiox one, it has straight edges while the Photodiox has a cone shape, allowing for more light to get to the sides.
You can also see its external diameter is not as big as the photodiox one, making them incompatible.

As the other reviewer said, this looks and feels like stainless steel, fits into the Calumet ring like it was built by Arca-Swiss, and works great.
Very smooth metal with a stainless steel feel. The three Bowens lugs are a molded aluminum ring that is very tightly attached to the steel adapter.
