5.0 out of 5 stars Great speaker for audio and build quality and immensely simple to use

I have the Bower and Wilkins A7, the largest, most expensive and most powerful of their wireless speakers, but I much prefer the T7 because it's simply easier to use.

In my experience, Bluetooth is a better technology for wireless speakers than the A7's Apple AirPlay. The T7 unit connects immediately. Set-up is a matter of pressing a few buttons on the unit and then your phone or computer and, as you'd expect, the sound and build quality is very impressive.

It's easy to transport, battery life seems very good (said to be 17 hours) and looks robust enough to be placed anywhere. I've purchased it for the garden, for my workout space and for trips to beaches and such. I intend to get a lot of use out of the T7, which is why I'm considering selling the A7. As amazing at the A7 is, the practically of the T7 means I'll use it more.

Whilst the unit does have a thick rubber surround to help prevent damage, I would still recommend buying the matching case for £20 when storing or travelling. It's a tight fit, but offers great protection. Also, the rubber really helps the unit stay in situ when knocked. The buttons too are integrated into this rubber and whilst not immediately visible, they are slightly raised to make it easier to find them. Power is on the right of the unit and a 1 second hold turns the uni on, and if you're familiar with B&W's other Bluetooth devices, then you'll hear the same 'ring' when it turns on and connects to a device.

The charger that comes with the unit is cheap, but functional. It also includes a number of adapters to work throughout the world. Handy if you travel often.

One thing I wasn't expecting, which is an added bonus, is that my iMac plays all audio through the speaker. Essentially it's now become an additional desk speaker and really brings TV, games and movies alive for me. I was always disappointed that the A7 wouldn't function as a speaker when watching my iTunes visual media, but the T7 does.

Overall, a great speaker. Lots of rich quality to sound, and power enough to fill a good sized room. Not as powerful as the A7, but it's immediate usability has won me over.
