The bench, when in the "flat position," isn't flat. It's concave. Imagine laying on a "V" - it forces you in to a very unnatural and uncomfortable position.
The base of the bench (the part of the bench that sits on the ground, under the butt cushion) is directly in the way of where my feet should go.
My wife is 5' 1'', I'm 6' 2''. We both had the same problem with the discomfort from the bench not being flat. Furthermore, my wife's feet barely touched the floor. I'm not holding this against the bench, I'm just pointing it out so people know that this bench isn't good for short people. It even felt kind of high to me. Another design quirk is the huge 4" gap between the seat back and the seat bottom. When in the flat position, it's very unnerving to have that big of a gap there. The seat bottom is very finicky to adjust from flat to angled - you really have to use both hands in order to make the adjustment but there's only a knob on one side. The seat back cushion has a stitching defect.
The assembly instructions were acceptable, but it was difficult to get all of the screws in to the seat cushions. If you take a risk on this bench, just know that you're not crazy when you try to screw the cushions in and it's nearly impossible due to slight misalignment between the bench's frame and the cushions. Due to the myriad of problems I have encountered, I highly recommend that you try before you buy.
Delivery with prime was quick (ordered Monday + arrived that Wednesday) and it took my husband maybe 15 minutes to assemble this solo without issues.
I love how thick the pads are and how sturdy the construction is. I can step up on this with confidence and lift heavy without fear. It's also SO easy to change slants on the fly compared to my former bench that used a locking pin mech (which eventually bent making the bench nearly unusable - won't use those again!).
Some have written about quality issues but so far I haven't had a problem. The gap some reviews refer to between the back and the seat when in a flat position hasn't posed a problem for me at 5'4". I merely move up the bench since it can accommodate quite a tall individual.
The only drawback I've had is the wheels are pretty useless on this with carpet. Our carpeting is low pile though, so pushing/pulling it into place isn't too bad. On our hardwood floors though, the wheels work adequately.
Overall, solid bench for any home gym!
