I quickly engaged with her main characters, Melchior, King of Avalon and Theresa, his true love and soon to be Queen. Their uncensored passion and eternal love, bought to life by the artful descriptions of romance and sexual desire that leaves no doubt in your mind that they were destined to be together.
The villain in the story is characterized well. Ms Somers brings out personality traits that I feel personifies the type of person who could easily be the ring leader for this type of crime....abuse of children.
I highly recommend this book as I found it to be an easy and compelling read. Even though it is about a very serious and real crime, happening right on our doorstep; the integration of the fantasy element leaves you with a feeling of hope. For those of us who are more spiritually inclined it really gives a boost to feelings of help from outside realms.
I commend the author on tackling a real and true frightening reality. She does not hold back. It was during these pages, I had to read with one eye. It was tough to experience the evil happening to children. On the other hand, The hero/heroine are so well done, I hated to say good bye to the King and his human love. When the author wrote about them, she really sparkled. She did a great job showing the contrasting fears and joys and the triumph of the human spirit. How this alone would be supernatural if we'd only see it in ourselves. A great read, one that will hold you and keep you, but maybe not for the truly sensitive. Definitely for adults only which brings me to my only beef with the book.
The title and the cover. This appears at first glance to be Young Adult suitable for teens. Its not. The subject matter is very sensitive. The author is exceptionally skilled with sensual writings and dealing with dark matter. I felt like there should be a reminder in the descriptions that this is for the over 18 reader.
I anxiously await another book from this author.
