This is a great kids movie. Not for adults. At the beginning they dress up a beautiful girl to be ugly and it barely works. Later they dress her like a rock star and it's beyond reasonable. If she had rock star clothes, why wasn't she wearing those at school? Where did her nerd clothes go? Also the monsters growl and hiss at each other a lot, as in you present a danger to the safety of my family and I'll growl at you, or I break into your house, tie you up, wave a gun around and imply I'm going to kill you, and you get free and spread your arms apart and growl loud at me and I hiss back, as though I forgot I have a gun in my hand. Also, the protagonists go to a non-english speaking country, and everyone speaks english with an accent to everyone else. Still, I consider it miles ahead of christmas cats working with dogs and guitar playing squirrels and male worker bees talking like humans to humans.
I am a 66-year-old lover of MONSTER movies in general... fantasy, Christmas, and time travel movies. While geared for the pre-teen and up crowd, this movie features a VERY capable cast that included Brooke Shields as a creepy maid/haus-meister. THIS movie has two, EXCELLENT, terror-if-ic werewolves in it. The vampires out-number the wolf-folks, so, when the conflict between warring factions it was a super battle... start to finish. I'd guess this is probably best suited for the 10 and up crowd. I'm an old guy, and loved it. Spectacular special effects and werewolf make-up and costumes! I thought the werewolf F/X was better than AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON/PARIS. Buy it or rent it!
I've looked for this DVD for many years. It seemed that it was one of those that Nickelodeon wasn't going to release. For a year I received monthly notices from Amazon that they were still trying to get it. This year it was fulfilled. The grandkids have been watching it when they visit, but from my DVR, until this year. Was able to put it in the stockings this year and they are happy campers. So is this Grammy.
Cute little film about a family with werewolves in their ancestry. Looks like the descendants received the same trait from them. Except, these werewolves are the good guys. No gory violence. A little cheesy. Interesting locale.
The grandkids sat enthralled. I found it interesting to watch, even after the 20th time. So, thumbs-up to just the right movie.
Well acted for kid flick, this movie is fun non-scarey halloween fare that will bring chuckles and just enough suspense to keep watching. I love the crazy role played by Brook Shields, a very different one for her.
I must start by saying I love this movie. I am far out of my teen years but its nice to watch a simple movie that doesnt get too deep in mythology that you can't enjoy the story. I loved Brooke Shields as Madame Varcolov. It really showed her comedic ability. The Boy Who Cried Werewolf has a bit of everything but it jelled throughout the story. I don't know how many times I have watched this movie since I bought the dvd. I would compare it with Hocus Pocus for being a fun movie to watch with great acting. It is worth the money for sure. I had this movie on pre-order for about a year waiting for it to come out. Worth the Wait. Parents, it's a movie your kids will enjoy and watch over and over.
Cute, Cute, Cute. Great family film, no nudity or swearing, no blood or gratuitous violence. Many deliberately clichéd laughs. A single parent family inherits a castle in Transylvania abounding in werewolves and vampires. A few plot twists, several sinister characters. Very good acting all-around. A teenage girl comes of age going from attractive but slightly nerdy to femme fatale. And yet, her Romanian boyfriend laments the loss of that attractive but slightly nerdy persona, as did I. Good relationship building between sister and brother and father. Did I say "cute"? Fun, fun, fun.
My seven year old grand daughter asked for a Halloween type movie. After reading the reviews on this movie, we purchased it and watched it as a family. All of us enjoyed the movie and appreciated the slight scary parts, but nothing that would make a 7 year old screen or leave the room.
I definitely recommend this movie as a fun family movie.
This is a great movie for kids and fans of Victoria Justice. The product is a DVD-RW, but it worked perfectly and the packaging was professional quality. I will order more manufactured by request movies in the future.
