Memphis....I found him to be kind of a contradictory character. Impulsive & somewhat selfish. I know he has his reasons but I still found him hard to warm up to.
Love Alec & Dylan but find the baby thing kind of weird. Seems a little soon in the relationship. Other than tacked on to the epilogue in the first book it never seemed like something either of them would want. And Dylan doesn't seem in the least excited about it!
Noah I ADORE!! I've always hoped he would get his story. Now he seems like a character where there is DEFINITELY more there than meets the eye. And after all he went through with Rick he deserves his fabulous HEA. Cannot wait for his story. And I think I'm going to love his love interest. I KNEW who that new doctor was meant for as soon as Tyler noticed his hideous cowboy boots.
Overall, Mandate was a worthy sequel. Kept me glued to it for 2 days anyway! :)
I found Noah both annoying and hysterical. I didn't like when he shared with Memphis what Tyler had gone through with his exes...I couldn't imagine embarrassing my friends like that. But then I remembered that one of my best friends embarrasses people...and she, like Noah, would do anything for her friends and we all love her. But the times he made me laugh out loud far outnumbered the times he annoyed me I can't wait to read his and Ky's story next...hopefully it will reference their brief meeting at the end and let us know what Ky's first reaction to Noah was!
I also enjoyed that Alec and Dylan were in the book a lot. Dylan still has some jealousy issues with Tyler where Alec is concerned, but then he surprised me when he helped Tyler out of an uncomfortable situation, and then was there several other times when Tyler needed his friends. I was really surprised by what Noah and Dylan did at the end to show their support of Memphis...and then to have them realize it wasn't even necessary. It will take a while before Dylan lets Noah forget it!
I did agree with one reviewer who felt that River used "Jesus Christ" way too many times, and I was going to take a star away, but I just loved the rest of the book too much to do that.
I know some people got irritated with the characters. I felt like I could really understand Memphis and also had to consider the age he and Tyler were when they were together. Who handled anything well at that age? As far as Tyler's expressions, I liked that quirk, since my brother does the same thing. When Tyler finally got angry and cut loose, it was one of the hottest scenes I've ever read. Angry elevator sex! It was a painful journey for Tyler and Memphis, filled with harsh truths and owning up to responsibility. It was a bit angst filled but also warm and humorous with the presence of Noah's inappropriate snark and surprising support from Dylan. Now, finally I can read Noah's story. It should be a he** of a book.
Tyler has gone on to become an award winning doctor and Memphis a model/stuntman. Somehow their paths cross and both realise that their fire never died.
Will tragedy come between them again?
Will apologies and forgiven ever be said and received?
Love this follow up to The Backup Boyfriend.
Can't wait to read Noah's story - that will be amusing.
Now 10 years later Memphis comes strolling back into Tyler's life thru a mutual friend and Tyler's life is turned upside by the snarky and overly sexy Memphis.
Memphis was the whole reasoning for Ty's Boyfriend Mandate...Will Memphis be able to get Tyler to forgive him for his disappearing act and give him another chance?
Memphis and Tyler's are the perfect ying and yang. Memphis left me crackly up with his antic to win Tyler over.
