Good read though. I recommend it to anyone that has the stomach of the gore and sex.
Darick-with-one-R does a great job on the artistic visuals. He honed those skills on the excellent Transmetropolitan comic book, which I highly recommend any lover-of-science-fiction to read.

The Boys will spank the bas%/!s when they get outa line.
Cant wait to see the tv series.
The Content: If you are already a fan of Garth Ennis or have read the books before, you know what you are getting. If you watched the show and have had your curiosity peaked, well then, these won't disappoint if you like your stories mature, non PC and gritty. Garth Ennis writing is intelligent and subtle, not vanilla and formulaic. Think old school HBO TV with all the violence, sex and dry/dark/morbid british humour... which as an Aussie is my first language, though have found it go over the heads of some Americans. In my personal opinion I found the TV show while good on its own, its very much a watered down version of the comic book for normal people who like the MCU formula. The books are very much for mature readers, not for children. A hard R18, but its natural, not forced and serves the story and characters. IN this case, what the world would really be like if Superheroes existed and acted like the entitled narcissistic celebrities they would be. It makes the stories all that much better and gives it non cliched depth. Garth Ennis is one of my favourite writers, period. He writes fluently and naturally, you never struggle to hear an accent or a voice in your mind while reading, which is only enhanced by the excellent artwork of Darrick Robertson. The stories are a perfect balance of action, comedy and drama. At this price, I say give the first book a chance, or get it free on kindle digitally. Strap yourself in and prepare for a wild ride. In my case, I keep an asthma pump nearby in case I laugh so hard I cant breathe.
Conclusion: Brilliant writing. Gorgeous artwork. Funny as hell. Excellent value for money. Not for the feint of heart.
