HIGHLIGHTS CALENDAR SYNOPSIS:
Best-selling author Brad Meltzer loves a good mystery. A history enthusiast known for his immaculate research, he has studied and written about some of America s most revered institutions and documents. But sometimes, he uncovers unverifiable stories that keep him awake at night. Is there another hidden message buried in the Statue of Liberty? What happened to the White House cornerstone that s been missing for two centuries? Could it be true that John Wilkes Booth lived for 40 years after his presumed death under an assumed identity?

In the new 10-part series BRAD MELTZER S DECODED, Meltzer scours secret clues, symbols and conspiracy theories to unravel some of society s most provocative enigmas. And the deeper he digs into the past, the more we learn about our future.

Together with a team of experts Buddy Levy, a professor and journalist who assumes there is always more than meets the eye; Christine McKinley, a mechanical engineer who believes only what she can prove; and Scott Rolle, a trial lawyer who is skeptical by nature Meltzer hunts for answers to questions that have perplexed us for centuries yet have never been fully investigated.

Even the most common, ordinary objects in the modern world and history may contain secret messages, steeped in codes and symbols. Brad Meltzer's Decoded is a show where the viewer follows a team of investigators who try to determine the meanings behind various symbolism, alleged secret codes and conspiracies that surround us everyday. In each episode, these credible researchers will travel far and wide to examine the clues and decode the hidden meaning behind these seemingly innocuous origins. They will canvas the darkest reaches of the world to connect dots toward revealing a deeper truth.

I love this show. I'm not a Conspiracy Theorist or a Conspiracy buff, I just enjoy watching shows dealing with Historical and unsolved mysteries. I agree with some critics that the show is far from being perfect, but each episode is full of interesting and fascinating information, and I've learned a lot while watching these episodes. Keep an open mind while watching this show, and don't take EVERYTHING they say too seriously. If, like me, you buy a lot of Historical documentaries on DVD then add this set to your collection, you won't regret it. The show is not perfect, maybe not for everyone, but it's definitely a fun show to watch. Enjoy ! :)

This set contains all 10 episodes from Season 1, each episode is 45 minutes long.

1. The White House
Brad and the team continue the 200-year search for the mysterious White House cornerstone. Supposedly laid down in 1792 by members of the secretive Freemasons, records are sketchy on the history of this stone which has been sought after by those such as Harry S. Truman and Barbara Bush.

Many people bash this show for not being correct all the time and trying to get people to question everything around us. To me, this is what makes this show special! I mean even in the 9th episode or so the team got arrested for trespassing on private property! I hope there is going to be a season 2 because the information they provide on this show is awesome and it is very thrilling and entertaining to watch. Buy it!

Ok, before I review this, I have to say that I was already a huge Meltzer fan before I saw the show. That being said, the show is absolutely wonderful. The team looks at different historical mysteries and travels to talk to experts and find clues. The team is great - they all have such different opinions, so they each give something unique to the show. Meltzer, himself, is hilarious! Although he does not travel with the team, he provides many of the contacts while cracking jokes and analyzing the team's research. The History Channel produced the show, so you know that it is well executed.

If I could give this show zero stars I would. It pretends that it will reveal new information about long-standing mysteries. It never does. The "investigators" just go around rehashing all the known info about the show's subject and then at the end it suddenly ends with a recap of these facts and a "we may never know the truth" kind of statement. At first we thought it might just be the first episode, so we watched another one. Same thing. What a waste of time.

This is not an in-depth research piece into the mystery of Lost Confederate Gold. However, it does follow the likely route taken by the treasure train as it left Richmond on April 2, 1865 as Union forces threatened to break through Confederate defenses, and until the Confederate Treasury was likely depleted through a series of disbursements. There may be a considerable amount of silver that remains buried in a cemetery in Danville, VA., but the Brad Meltzer search team did not find any traces of it. This documentary is largely high hopes and unproven theories. There are gold bugs out there who claim to know what the symbols carved into holly trees in the cemetery by the KGC really mean (Bob Brewer is not regarded as a serious Civil War historian or treasure hunter - but is portrayed as an expert in this episode). There is an interesting corollary to secret signs that is imbedded in this documentary. Reverse signs are displayed that say 'April 1st', 'Sign of', and 'the Zodiac'. What do these reverse signs that were placed by the show's producers mean? I have no idea. Maybe you know what they mean. So it is.

Ug, another interesting and fascinating program ruined by way over use and abuse of the "shaky cam" technique. Saw this in another documentary recently. C'mon guys, shaky cam is good for setting up an eerie shot but you don't have to use the everlasting wobble after every 3 second scene change and transition. Trying to watch this show is making me airsick! At least they don't use the blurry-cam technique at the same time. Seen that too recently. Makes the shows totally unwatchable.

My husband is a huge fan and was disappointed that it's not on the air by us anymore. They delve into some of the government cover-ups from Lincoln's time period to current day masons. It's fascinating. Brad is engaging. His team can be a little annoying. The stuff they uncover is compelling. Good price. Fast delivery. Enjoy!
