About the Author

Ray Bradbury (1920-2012) was one of science fiction's greatest luminaries. The author of such classic, important works as Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and Something Wicked This Way Comes, Bradbury was honored in 2007 with a Pulitzer citation "for his distinguished, prolific and deeply influential career as an unmatched author of science fiction and fantasy." Other distinctions include a 1954 honor from the National Institute of Arts and Letters, a Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters from the National Book Foundation in 2000, and the National Medal of Arts, awarded by President George W. Bush and Laura Bush in 2004. He was also an Emmy Award-winning screenwriter. Born in Waukegan, Illinois in 1920, Bradbury spent most of his life in Los Angeles, where he passed away in 2012.

Ron Wimberly has worked on such DC/Vertigo titles as Swamp Thing and Lucifer. He is the illustrator of the graphic novel Sentences: The Life of M. F. Grimm, which won the Glyph Award for best story and for best cover and was nominated for the Eisner Award for best reality-based title.

Ronald was the 2016 Columbus Comics resident and two time resident cartoonist at Angoulême Maison des Auteurs.

When I ordered this book I thought I was ordering a copy of Ray Bradbury's "Something Wicked This Way Comes" with illustrations. As it turns out, I was ordering the graphic novel, which in the past I would have described as a "comic book." Since there's nothing funny about this book, I suppose that would be a complete misnomer. I started reading it with trepidation, but once I was more used to the format, I actually enjoyed it. Most pages were very black but most of the action takes place at night, so how else would the illustrator depict that? Let's face it, it's a dark story. Ray Bradbury was a science fiction master but this book is more horror story than science fiction. We'll be reading the regular text version of this book for a book group I lead in my town but I will show them the graphic novel for their edification. If they help young people to read more, I'm all for them. Not nearly as challenging as the Harry Potter series, that's for sure! This book was made into a movie back in the 1980's which I've seen on TV a few times.

Nothing matches Bradbury's original book, but this adaptation offers some images to go with the text. I was surprised by a little mature content here, so be careful when sharing with younger readers. However, this book is a must for comic book/graphic novel fans, as well as avid readers of Bradbury's work.

I've liked the book for a while now. Picked up the graphic novel version to see how it was done and it's a good adaptation. The art is great. There are some points where there's a lot of descriptive text but I think that's the nature of the work being adapted. Well worth picking up.

Haven't read original story but I feel it wasn't adapted really well.

I really love Wimberly's art (I bought this book for it) but the story doesn't feel consistent.

Also the print quality isn't very good. Text is often fractured with lines.

Buy it only if you're fan of Ron Wimberly.

The art is good but not fantastic. It's in b/w not color which is disappointing.

The hard thing for the artist is that Bradbury is a wordsmith and uses words in the same way the artist uses drawings and the colorist uses color. Trying to draw his passages is like trying to describe the Mona Lisa. Also I seem to remember that the Dust Witch was supposed to be beautiful not an old crone.
