The Brady BMP21 handheld label printer kit includes a label printer for creating multi-line labels for clear identification of wires, panels, circuit boards, and other industrial items; a label cartridge; an AC adapter; and a carrying case. The keyboard on the handle of the printer contains letters A to Z and numbers 0 to 9, and the text displays on the LCD screen as it is typed. The text prints in 203 dpi resolution in a single color using thermal transfer technology, and the user can select from six font sizes (6 to 40 point). The printer can create serialized labels, and it uses continuous tape cartridges, which enable labels of varying widths. The printer can be powered by either six AA alkaline batteries (sold separately) for portability or the included AC power adapter. One cartridge of 16 continuous feet of 0.75"-wide nylon cloth tape is included with the printer.
Brady manufactures signs, labels, lockout/tagout, safety devices, and printing systems and software used in the electronics, telecommunications, manufacturing, electrical, construction, education, and medical industries. The company, founded in 1914, is headquartered in Milwaukee, WI.

My Brother PT-1650 TZ labeler I've used since 2005 gives "cutter error" prompts all the time and really wastes the label tape. It also annoyingly clogs the print head. It has apparently been discontinued. And though there are a multitude of Brother label stocks available, they have nothing like the material Brady uses.
The various label stocks have a consistent code:
M21-500-499, for instance, has M21 as the code that fits this BMP21 printer
The -500- middle number is the width in inches (500 = 1/2" = .500").
The last number -499 is the material series type.
Brady offers the 342 series shrink tubing (called Permasleeve) that you can print labels on, if you want to pay serious bank for the capability. 50 cents per inch! Brady M21-125-C-342 7' Length, 0.125" Width, B-342 Permasleeve Heat-Shrink Polyolefin, Black On White Color PermaSleeve Markers For BMP21 Mobile Printer
They also offer several widths of the 499 series durable nylon "cloth" as their material of choice for most surfaces, cables and patch panels. It's very flexible and does not unwrap off even small diameter cable. Says it adheres to smooth, textured, and high textured surfaces, cable and wire, terminal blocks, patch panel and for General ID uses. I stuck a nylon label to a soft ballistic nylon case that's all other labels except iron-on won't adhere to. It felt like it was going to stay put. The secret is the flexibility.Read more ›
But the labels do not fall off most stuff, and the printer is great, but battery hungary
