Sue Hultberg provides the readers a unique perspective as she has not only done a great job of researching the subject, but she is in fact an ABI/TBI survivor herself!
I, too, am an TBI/ABI survivor [TBI survivor (blast injury, Vietnam War, 1969) and an ABI Survivor (Bacterial Meningitis, 2010)] myself who has had the good fortune to have recovered beyond all of my doctors' expectations. As strange as this may sound, I consider my experience recovering from my acquired brain injuries to be more enlightening than all of my considerable years of studying and practicing medicine for more than four decades! This book is a realistic and detailed account of what it means/feels like to be an ABI/TBI survivor. The book also calls attention to many social and economic issues that acquired brain injury survivors face and explains some laws and policies that would help the brain injury community.
I cannot thank the author enough for her dedication to our cause as well as for her taking the time to put it all down on paper for this book! This is a great read that will give you tremendous insight into acquired brain injuries. KUDOS to the Sue Hultberg!
I could write dozens of paragraphs and thousands of words telling you why I consider this book to be a MUST READ, but Sue Hultberg has done such a superb job that all I can tell you is to READ IT - DOCTOR'S ORDERS!
