Well, didn't this book surprise me and thrill me. Never saw it coming, that's for sure. What am I talking about ... since there are no spoilers, you'll just have to pick up the book to find out. But, really ... Brain blew me away and the book was good too!
Brain had everything I could ever want or hope for in a book - drama, passion, love, adventure, heart and soul. I have read many of Ms. Blevins' books and have loved them all, but something about Brain really touched my heart and I will remember it for a long time.

This book could easily have been called "Brains" because in true and appreciated Candace Blevins form, the main chick in the story is every bit as smart and courageous as the main dude. Main dude, as evidenced in a captivating cover, is Brain; his role in the Chattanooga MC is in information acquisitions for Duke. Main chick is Ice. Or Faith, or Destiny or whatever she needs it to be to stay at least one step ahead of a very dark and dangerous past that is forever threatening to overtake her.
The two begin at odds over stolen information and without spilling any beans, a tenuous peace is established between them as they reinvent themselves, including names, and break all ties with the lives they have been leading. Ties that, for Brain at least, include the Brothers with whom he has lived and ridden for years, all for the love of a woman destined to live a shortened life looking over her shoulder.
The course of events was worthy of Bond-meets-Bourne-meets-Mal and River versus "the bad guys". Add in supernatural friends-with-skills and you have just the most delicious continuation of this practically perfect in every way, paranormal series. Oh, and lest I forget the...erm...adjustable nookie, may I just say?: Werewolves.
This installation in the series also gives the reader more glimpses into the rich secondary characters, and lends perfectly to their upcoming stories. It is a diverse and deep, sometimes dark but always very vivid world that Ms. Blevins has pulled out of her magic hat, and I would be one happy reader if it became The Neverending Story...
Candace Blevins continues to produce high quality, well crafted pieces of fiction. Her characters are strong, rich, vibrant and multilayered. Storylines are interesting, evenly paced and entertaining. I am q fan and will continue to read anything she releases.
This story is fantastic and a must read.
This was also the first time I've read a shifter book. It was much better than I anticipated. I worried that the shifter may actually add some cheesiness to the story but it did not. Brain speaks of his wolf in third person so it makes it a lot easier to separate it from his character. It's presented as if the wolf is a characteristic he has and not so much who he is. I also enjoyed how protective his wolf was of Ice.
He walked from his friends, his brothers and MC when they went against something and someone he believed in.
He was stripped bare, and he fought with everything he had to win his Buttercup back.
I found this book different to Duke, there was certainly more conflict within the MC but just as enjoyable if not more so.
I am looking forward to Bash.....although i really do not like him after what happened with him and Buttercup, in fact although he redeems himself somewhat as does Gonzo... the jury is out on them both.
Definitely a series that you should read. I loved it
Also, I adored Brain's character, the man knew he wanted Ice and was truly wiling to do "whatever was necessary" to make them work as a couple. Many characters SAY this, but Brain showed real patience and understanding of what it would be like to have a relationship with ICE. Nothing was given, it all had to be earned.
There are many possible triggers here, rape, degradation, torture - it is not a light book, not really what I was expecting, but so incredibly good, I'd highly recommend it. It could be a stand-alone, though it will be made richer if read as part of Ms. Blevins' Kirsten O'Shea/Chattanooga Supernaturals series.
