Naughty Granny ~
Wanted to be certain my review is read. . . three stars would grab your attention! In actuality, Johnny Knew has scored a 10 stars in my eyes! And oh, did my eyes see such a fun story and pleasurable sights!
Bed time didn't happen quickly for my borrowed kiddos. . . too much fun in one story book that required much discussion and wonder as we wiggled under sheets and giggled at the funny people trees as they gave the Tree-With-No-Branches such a hard go! We all agreed, we'd never, ever be so MEAN ~ no never to anyone we meet!
The Tree-With-No-Branches has become our number one hero! Cries of "Read it again!" had to be cooled as the hour was late and the folks home all too soon! Granny did not want to get in trouble knowing full well, her charges would be sleeping in their cereal bowls in the morning!
Good to share, I have an inside track and know, Johnny Knew has several more kid books up his sleeve ~ at least one more before Christmas so plan ahead, to add to your children's libraries prior to years end! This Granny will promise, not to "read it again" at least not, till another bed time. Thank you Johnny Knew ~ who knew you had this in you! Bravo! Granny Linda

Best new Children's book yet!

I am so excited to get my new book from Johnny Knew "The Tree with no Branches" We were able to preview it and he is the next up and coming Dr. Suess!!! I love his perspective on love, bullying and just life in general! I am saving one for my grandchildren (whenever I have one...the kids aren't even married yet!) I purchased one for a special 5 year old i love...can't wait to get it! Great job Johnny!!

Our grandchildren were very interested in the illustrations as we read along. The tree names were fun for them to identify later. The message of the bullied tree was quite poignant. They related it to other situations in their lives where they, or close friends, felt left out and were hurt by the actions and words of others. Mr. Knew and his illustrator, Mr. Ward, were right on. This book had the children and their interpretation of events accurately depicted. The family going out together for a day in the woods encouraged the children to think about other places where circumstances can change and make it a day of adventure.

Whimsical storybook that is destined to be a classic!

Although my children are adults, as a lifelong bookworm and avid art lover, I collect quirky children's books. Factor in my obsessive love of trees and this is one of my new favorites. The author's message of not judging a book by it's cover (pun intended) is timeless and creates a teachable moment for all of us. The illustrations, by my nephew K. Von Ward, are a whimsical mixture of Dr. Seuss and Tim Burton with a touch of fairytale magic which I adore. I snapped it up hot off the press and have read it more times than I can count. I hope they both team up for another book soon.

It is refreshing to find an Author that writes a children book with humor, but also with a positive life lesson. Reading this delightful story makes you and your kid's laugh out loud with the way the Author rhymes his way through the story! The way he develops the main character, makes you root for him all the way! I can't wait for Johnny Knew's next book to come out!

Great Message for kids

I met the author of this book while working in the office that he practices in. I decided that I liked the illustrations and the important message that it gives to children. I bought this book to read to my two young children. It allows children to see that character and what is on the inside is much more important than physical beauty.
