The descriptive qualities that Jennifer Probst masterfully displays so well every single time pulls on your heart heart strings, makes.you laugh out loud with some open mouthed astonishing moments.
A story of young love and following dreams.
Kyle and Ophelia runaway to fulfill their dreams. Choices are made while love gets " tangled and lost along the way. "
Beautiful story of second chances, trust, staying true to yourself, and following your heart. Love can be painful leaving one vulnerable but with acceptance and understanding its all WORTH it.
Book 2 in this series though can be read as a STANDALONE.
Did Kyle return home to get Ophelia back or to write his screenplay? Would he have come home if he hadn’t been on a deadline? Kyle had no idea that he had treated Ophelia so poorly when they were first married and had no clue as to why she left him.
Ophelia was shocked when Kyle knocked on her door and she realized that the problems they have now are the result of their unresolved feelings for each other. They never wanted the same thing and how can she possibly trust Kyle a second time when she knows he could return to California. She needed to protect her heart from loving him again.
Forgiveness is the most important factor in any relationship and in this story Ophelia must forgive Kyle, and he also needs to forgive his father and himself, if he can ever find happiness again.
Ophelia and Kyle’s journey was filled with laughter, tears, intense conversations and passionate encounters. They had known each other for a long time but it wasn’t until Kyle put a pen to paper, did they truly know what the future held for them. I absolutely loved their story and it made me feel that true love does conquer all.
Ophelia Bishop is happy - she is doing what she loves in running her families B&B. She doesnt often think about what might have been or how much she misses Kyle and singing, but when she ran off to LA with Kyle as kids she knew that wasnt the life she wanted so coming back home wasnt a hardship other than leaving Kyle. Now Kyle is on her front doorstep after 10 and wants to write his new screenplay at her B&B. Ophelia knows this is not a good idea in so many ways but mostly she knows she cant risk her heart on Kyle again.
Kyle Kimpton has been gone for 10 years living the life he has always dreamed about, but he is beginning to realize the glitzy LA life is not all that's cracked up to be and he has made way to many compromises with his work and ultimately with his heart. He has never stopped loving Ophelia and has come home to write but more importantly to win her back. Kyle also has a secret that could cause Ophelia to run away from him again - but he hopes to show her why they belong together first.
I love Jennifer Probst style of writing. She writes in the 3rd person which I find refreshing in this day in agent - so the reader feels like they are watching the story unfold while getting in the minds of her characters. In this case, both Ophelia and Kyle are so well developed that I felt for both of them - especially Ophelia. We also get to see Mia and Ethan again which I loved and there is also a great cameo from another one of Ms Probst books that I dont want to give away. That being said this is a standalone so I promise if you are new to the Stay series you wont feel lost at all.
Sometimes the second book in a series feels flat to me. Authors try to push the book because they want to continue the series. Not this one. This was such a well written story - no corners cut and no rush to force the story line. Really the heart of the story reflects this as well. Life demands choices and each choice has consequences. Do you know yourself and what you really want in life? Do your choices reflect your heart or do you allow life to make your decisions for you? It's all about making sure your choices and actions bring you no regret and the consequences being something you can live with.
Anyone who ever had a first love that came too early to be mature enough to deal with the struggles of real life, anyone who loves second chance stories with real life intricately woven into the story line without the sap, anyone who wants to feel the love at the end of a story - if you are that anyone, you will fall into this story. I can't even think of reading another story for a few days. I just want to let this one settle into my heart for a minute.
