BRANDED - THE COMPLETE SERIES - OVER 19 HOURS ON 6 DVDS! In Branded, Chuck Connors plays the part of Captain Jason McCord, West Point graduate and decorated Cavalry officer. As the sole survivor of the Battle at Bitter Creek, an Apache Indian massacre, he is judged to have deserted the field of battle and is stripped of his rank. He is branded a coward and a disgraced in the eyes of the world. McCord roams the West in search of redemption and justice, for others and ultimately for himself. His exciting travels take him into the lives of many others searching for the dream of the American West. He moves from one town and job to the next, plying his training as an engineer. He always takes the time to lend a hand, to right a wrong and to stand up to injustice. From time to time, President Ulysses S. Grant recruits him for daring undercover missions, which he courageously undertakes, but his disgrace and shame follow him wherever he goes. Branded first aired in January 1965 and had a very successful two year run. A mark of its success is the number and quality of television stars of the time that appeared in guest roles. They included Alex Cord, Burt Reynolds, Peter Graves, Rod Cameron, Claude Akins, Gene Evans, John Ireland, John Carradine, MacDonald Carey, Cesar Romero, Chad Everett, Marie Windsor, Marilyn Maxwell, Warren Oates, Greg Morris, John Agar, Bruce Dern, Beau Bridges, Lee Van Cleef and many more future stars. Branded is a true Western classic and Chuck Connors as Jason McCord is the epitome of the American spirit; rugged and courageous. He is unafraid to take on any task and through his strength and will, he is able to overcome whatever odds are placed before him.

The complete Classic TV Western, Branded, is being released - but by the same company that put out poorly produced single-season sets several years ago.

The Chuck Connors series, which aired from 1965-1966, is well deserving of a quality DVD release. In 2004-2005, Timeless Media Group released individual boxed sets of Season 1 and Season 2 of the series. The problem was, the episodes were edited (chopped for commercial syndication) and the video quality was also very poor, more like copied from cut-rate VHS.

An industry insider has told me that this new releasing is simply a repacking project. This means that Timeless Media Group has NOT remastered the episodes from 35mm film, nor has the video quality has been improved at all, and the episodes have NOT been restored but remain poorly edited and incomplete. As a result, I highly recommend that anyone who already has these sets to refrain from purchasing this boxed set. For anyone who does not have the earlier versions, it's a VERY worthwhile series to own, but be warned, and do expect high-quality DVDs. (FYI: That is the only reason I'm giving this release two stars, because it allows fans to buy the series in one DVD set.)

Connors (best known for his riveting portrayal of Lucas McCain in "The Rifleman,") gives an equally compelling performance here as Captain Jason McCord, in a series created by Larry Cohen.

McCord, a West Point graduate, is the sole survivor of an Indian battle at Bitter Creek in the 1800s. Court-martialed as a coward who ran, he was forever "branded" with that stigma and thrown out of the Army, his rank insignia ripped off and his Cavalry sabre broken in two in a military ceremony casting him out of the fort.

This was an excellent series, but what is provided here are incomplete episodes, as mentioned in the other reviews. About two or three minutes are chopped out of each episode,so these are taken from syndicated airings of this series. Sometimes the episodes don't make sense because of these cuts. The picture quality isn't great, but it's on a par with many of the series from the same time period. Perhaps these episodes were reproduced from VHS copies. I rate the series four stars, but the product here I give only one star. If you want an uncut series, this doesn't seem to be for you. Each episode, minus the theme and the credits, lasts about 18 minutes, even shorter than most modern half-hour series. I was disappointed.

Worth every cent. Critics need to realise that this is a series that is 44 years old. No ads - so episodes were 22 minutes long. The bonus features at the end were good too. I really liked the one with David Niven. A lot of well-known actors make appearances. A few are still around today.

I purchased this set twice. Once by another vendor to Amazon and once by Amazon. The first set were dubbed off the TV, very poor quality. I notified Amazon about the problem. They had me send the discs back and they credited me. I repurchased the set through Amazon themselves and the quality was excellent. I was very pleased with the product and the service provided by Amazon.

I love Branded. Always have. To own the set and watch the episodes with up and coming stars is a real treat. Anyone who liked the series should consider buying it but buy it where Amazon is the provider, not a third party.

I bought this set for my husband and me. We have been watching reruns of The Rifleman with Chuck Connors on TV. When I saw this set available on Amazon I knew I had to get it. Another reviewer pointed out that there are places in the shows that seem "chopped" more than likely due to taking out commercials. But this in no way diminishes the continuity of the shows. Some shows are in color and some in black & white. They do not appear to be "remastered" but the quality is still good. It's fun pointing out former movie stars or up and coming stars (for the time) as we watch the shows. The dvd menus are nice so you can just pick which shows you want to watch. Quite a few extras were added to the dvds as well. Take a chance and try this!

I don't care about all the reviewers that talk about disc quality. 'Branded' when it debuted after 'Rifleman' was a pleasure to watch, since growing up in the 60's westerns was were it was at. I am happy to find it in any format to view again. I recall when T.V. was just 3 channels and am amazed that today almost anything can be at one's beck and call. Salute to Amazon.

This is repackaged Syndication GARBAGE. the quality of the episodes put to DVD is grainy and bad. episodes are all EDITED and clock at 22 minutes vs the original running time of apprx 25:20 per episode. This is no better than you could have recorded on VHS in the 1980s and burned to DVD..in fact the VHS copies I have are much better quality. I do not know why the original prints could be be accessed. With every single episode in this set being edited..I cant go above 1 star.

I call my review Exhausted simply because I am enjoying but usually having difficulty to find the time to view a 19 hours T V Western series - Branded! So far I have not viewed every episode but to date the stories and the actors be they guest stars or familiar faces among the character actors make the stories believeable and tense even if we know Chuck Connors will win the day to appear in the next episode.Of course I am a Western fan and never tire of watching Westerns from the good old days of T V cowboys.Branded is different in that the hero is seen as a coward when in reality he is on a mission only known to high command in the U S army.Connors has the face, expressions and stature to carry it off successfully.Fascinating that he proved to be a fine actor in manly roles rather than a sports star.Much enjoyed and episodes are not too long so must find a half hour to watch another tale from the West. Go on order it!
