12-cup Coffee Maker with Flavor Select with Digital Timer Multi-path brewing system Clock and Digital Timer Set your coffee maker's timer to brew coffee fresh in the morning and gently awaken to its fresh aroma
Equipped with a water-dispersal system for fast, uniform saturation of ground coffee, this 12-cup coffeemaker provides a flavor-selection feature for dialing up mild- to robust-tasting coffee. Electronic controls make several programmable choices available. The clock/timer, for example, can be set up to 24 hours in advance to automatically brew "wake-up" coffee. And the warming plate that keeps coffee hot in the glass carafe can be programmed to shut off anytime between 10 minutes and four hours after brewing. Other features include a coffee-flow shutoff if the carafe is removed for a quick pour during the brewing cycle; a space for inserting a water filter (which is not included); a swing-out filter basket that can be removed for cleaning; and a water-level window for precise measurement. This model comes clad in gleaming white and carries a one-year warranty against defects. With the carafe in place, it measures 13-1/2 inches high, 7-1/2 inches wide, and 12 inches deep. --Fred Brack

Coffee itself is decent.
It will be interesting to see how long this small appliance lasts.
That being said, I can attest that I've had 4 incarnations of this model coffee maker over the past 12 years or more, all have worked equally well, have made good coffee, and simply wear-out or become out-moded before I choose to replace them. I've never experienced a problem or difficulty with any Braun coffee maker I have owned. My Dad has owned two Braun coffee machines in the same time period and his current one, being close to 7 or 8 years old, still works just fine.
The coffee is excellent. Im sure its a combo of factors but i would think it has alot to do with brew time. This has a pretty quick brew time..I think that helps keep the coffee from not getting bitter. It stays heated anywhere up to 4 hours and even at that time, its not *burned* tasting.
The grinds get put in a basket that swings out and come off for easy cleaning. I wonder if over time this will just break off...and I think if this unit breaks, it will probably be at the swing arm. But i havent had any problems with that yet.
You can program it to brew automatically at a pre-set time. very nice... It does come with a part in place that you would remove and replace with a water filter. You can leave it there if your not going to use a filter... if your using filtered water. (i use a britta)... that is a big pain. Brittas take forever to refill and the coffee pot is bigger than the britta. They STRONGLY suggest, almost say you have to...used filtered water or their water filter.
I think one should have been inclued with the pot if they were going to all but require filtered water. But they didnt.
Overall, its the best pot i have ever used or owned...and more reasonable priced than some of them
