But I found the quality is so poor, please check the picture: LCD display cannot completely show the temperature, it is not battery issue since I already changed new battery to confirm.
May I know how can I fix it?
Why I love this:
It works quick. I have a soon to be 1 year old. I think it's pretty obvious that using a regular thermometer wouldn't work. No child likes to sit still and wait for the thermometer to be ready. This is so quick, it really is 1 second! By the time she move her head, it was ready.
What I don't like about this:
It's kind of big. I have a small emergency first aid storage box in the closet which I put must-have medicine and wound care to keep at home. This takes up quite a bit of space. Holding this in my hand, my hand fits comfortably around it and I would say it's kind of still bigger. Also, you have to use a cap to keep it clean. There is a sensor in the middle that needs to be protected or else it would make it an inaccurate reading. It's a sensitive piece so I don't want to risk getting it dirty and attempting to clean it. I wouldn't even try to clean it with a q-tip because it might also ruin it (says the manual). I haven't bought any of them yet, nor have I looked up how much they are. But I assume they are pretty cheap.
Compare to other thermometers:
Paci thermometers (for my daughter): These are actually very inaccurate. I got a scare because of this. I took my daughter to the ER because it read she had a fever of 101 when she was only 2 months old. At the ER she had a regular temp. Never used that paci-thermometer again.
Regular thermometer: These are a lot more affordable. I bought a cheap $2 one from Walgreen because I needed one ASAP for myself. It's simple and it works. Still works now after a year. Pretty surprised lol. These work well for my baby a couple times I took her rectal temp. But, she didn't like it. She also didn't want to lay down still also for a good minute or two. Best alternative for an adult because they're cheap.
Forehead readers: I don't actually own one. My daughter's Peds uses one at the office to measure my daughter's temp at each visit. My daughter always had an accurate reading each time. It was a simple sweep from the temple to forehead back to temple. It was easy and simple to use. My daughter don't have any problem using this usually. But, I notice that after she started getting more 'aware' and moving around more, she doesn't like to keep hear head still for the measuring. So it did start to become more difficult because it takes about 3 - 5 seconds.
Based off my experience with the different types of thermometers, I chose this ear thermometer because it's convenience to measure my daughter's temperature. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who has children, especially for younger children.
Thuis is à well-designed and usedul device which should be in every bathroom of every home. The quality is quite good, and after only a few attempts, one is a pro. with this thermometer.
I haven't changed the little ear guard yet and it hasn't affected our results, so if you're worried about the added expense of the filters I wouldn't worry about it, you can keep the same one on for a looong time so long as it doesn't get waxy and if you're not super germaphobic.
