The Thermoscan 7 is also compact and smaller than my previous ones. This is very important to me because I have a small space. It fits better into small organizing drawers than anyone I've tried.
PROS:
The new black model is sharp looking, smaller and takes less space in my medicine cabinet.
The LED screen is helpful but not too bright. When it's dark you don't want a bright light altering a half-awake infant.
The ability to change features based on AGE is absolutely brilliant. So helpful and reassuring to parents.
Carrying case is compact and snaps in securely.
CONS:
It's supposed to alert you if you insert it incorrectly. I was only able to trigger this a few times. It doesn't seem to be sensitive enough to mishandling. With that said - getting a child's temperature (via the ear) isn't rocket science. I'm not sure how important that feature would be.
Summary: This is a quality thermometer. Don't go cheap here. You don't want an off-brand. You want consistent readings and information when you're awake at 3am.

I have 3 boys under 6year of age. Feverish nights are so hard on the entire family. Knowing the EXACT temperature is important. Braun makes the best thermometers in my opinion. They have the most accuracy of any one on the market. I had three in my home and I tested each one on my 6 year old. The older Braun (7 years old) and the new one were within .4 degrees of each other. Super consistent and high quality.
