From the Author
A serious fire which happened here in Utah sparked the idea for this story. During the fire, a family died on their own farm while moving irrigation sprinklers. Unable to comprehend how this could have happened, I conjured up this fictional plot. Throw in romance, phobias, a dog and some controversy over illegal immigrants...and you've got an exciting read.

Dean Harward is working his way through veterinary college by working as a firefighter. Ginger Warby is fighting her own private battle against her fire phobia, and as a desperate measure she volunteers to front up and join the team. The challenge is made no easier when she finds herself as the only female in a group of men whose practical jokes don't make her job any easier. Expecting to be assigned camp duties as a cook, instead Ginger is posted to the front line as the fire roars ever closer.
The developing romance between Dean and Ginger faces constant diversions. Vivid and well-researched descriptions of the fire's ferocity and power are balanced when Dean tells the terrified girl, `Fire is just another part of life--a sort of cleaning process. The forest will start again, renewed and fresh...'a symbol, perhaps for the psychological adjustments both must make if they are to accept love. Serious side-issues to the main story include racial tensions and illegal immigrants.
However, this is a Cindy A.Christiansen story, and as usual it lives up to its promise of comedy, drama, romance and dogs. The faithful Labrador Dixie has a crucial role to play, and the author gives the impression she is having enormous fun with her full-tilt prose and amusing metaphors and similes. `The car took the slick, muddy road about as well as a Saint Bernard on roller skates.'
Cindy A.Christiansen's voice is unmistakable and readers who love her style will not be disappointed in `Braving the Blaze.' Margaret Sutherland

When Dixie,Deans dog shows up in the middle of this fire, now Dean has another problem on his hand trying to save Ginger Himself and his dog.
This is the first book that I have read of Ms .Christiansen's and I have to say I enjoyed it very much. Working with a volunteer fire dept myself, I can understand Ginger's feelings towards fire and having a fear of it. This story had just the right amount of suspense and romance to keep it interesting. I found the book very hard to put down and had to keep reading to find out just how they were going to escape off that mountain to the exciting conclusion of the book. One could not help but root for Ginger as she finally manages to control her fear. If you are looking for a great afternoon read then I recommend Braving The Blaze.

And event with fire four years earlier changed her life, and destroyed her family. Now she decides to confront her fears and joins in fighting a huge dangerous fire. She figures that she can help with food and bottled water--that is until she gets there and she is sent to work behind the fire.
Dean is a veterinarian student in his last year of school. He finances his collage by combating fires every summer. Everything has worked well until this huge fire happens and he is forced to partner with a woman. He is sure she will be the death of him.
Hear you will find a fantastic story line with a great pace, and action that will delight any reader of clean romances.
