I ordered this unit to replace the stock unit in my 1998 K1500 truck. Don't make the 2 mistakes I did when replacing my stock. I didn't think about the fact this was a single DIN and my truck has an odd size. Had to order the Scosche Dash Kit for 1995-02 General Motors 1500 Series Full Size Trucks (on Amazon) to make a perfect fit that looks great. 2nd mistake which seems to be common on this truck is breaking the airbag on off switch when removing the dash panel. A little 5 minute epoxy and the switch was good as new. Back to this unit. I am shocked at the sound quality. It blows away my Pioneer unit in one car and a Sony in a previous car. Doesnt have the flashy screens these other 2 units have but I wanted easy to operate and great sound. Anyone that has a Pioneer knows how much a pain they are in moving traffic to do anything. The unit has a nice scrolling screen with folder, title, artist, and album info. Remembers where it was after engine shut down. My only complaint is the AM quality has a little static the stock didn't have. Probably a good thing as listening to politics on AM radio can really ruin your day! For $39.00 I'm going to pull out the Pioneer in the Jeep and put this in.

This unit has worked well for me for the last three years. I saw that many others had written less than positive reviews, especially around the unit failing soon after installation. That has not proved to be the case for this one. It was installed in the dash of my motorhome in 2014, and has performed as expected ever since. I will say that finding the special adapter to avoid splicing power and speaker connections proved to be a chore, as it is not included in the box it, but ultimately the quest was successful. The sound is not bad, and it has enough power to drive the pair of Pioneer 6" speakers at the front of the motorhome. I like that I can connect a Galaxy S7 into the AUX port on the front, and I have even used the SD card port successfully. Good value for the money so far.

I purchased this to replace a defective radio in my Chevy Silverado. I was skeptical about this, because of the low price and some of the rough reviews, but I'm so glad I got it. I put this in my truck with little effort (match the colors of the wires, crimp, and put it in). I found that it was easy enough to program, it receives radio stations well, and everything just works! It is so nice to have something so straightforward. The unit stores your place if you are using a USB thumb drive, as long as you leave the thumb drive in (I listen to audiobooks while I drive). The auxiliary function works well also. I haven't tried it with SD cards, but I'm sure that function works as well.

Update: I liked this so much that I bought a second one for my Lincoln Town Car after the aftermarket Pioneer that I had went bonkers. It's good enough that I have it in both of my cars. This is just a great little unit for not a lot of money.

Pretty Good Deal

I got this to replace the factory radio in my old VW Jetta, which worked great, but the problem was that it was AM/FM and cassette (really VW - even the year this car was new that was ridiculous!). This slid right in to the space and the harness that came with the radio plugged right in. There was an extra connector plugged in to the back of the factory radio that had nowhere to plug in to the new harness, but I just left it unplugged and everything seems to work (I think it's for the premium sound system which I didn't have). The only issue was that the red and yellow wires had to be swapped as mentioned in the instructions, but this was simple because there are already inline connectors on the harness. Also, the antenna needed an adaptor, but a trip to Walmart and $9 solved that. You might be able to get one cheaper on amazon if you know what you need ahead of time. Oh, Walmart also has the tool to remove the factory radio, if you run in to that problem.

I'm not an audiophile and the car has cheap speakers, but I think this unit sounds very good. It does have a bit of a cheap feel to the controls, but hey, the thing is inexpensive. If that kind of thing bothers you, you should spend a little more. As for operation, I have only one real problem: there doesn't seem to be any easy way to navigate folders. So I buy a 32Gb SD card for $11 and load it up with every song I'd ever want to listen to, but when I want to find a specific artist or album it's a major PITA. The best way I've found is to use the remote because the folder +/- is one button press instead of the "long press" is you use the radio buttons. What it really needs is a mode where you can spin the knob while it goes back and forth through the folders, displaying the name. There's a freakin computer inside, how hard would that be. (Maybe there's an easier way that I missed? If so, someone please let me know!)

But I'm kind of casual music listener so I can live with it. Maybe this deserves less than 4 stars just for the reason above, but I'm pretty happy so far, so 4 stars.

BTW, does anyone happen to know what kind of hardware is inside this thing (or can a company rep find out)? Maybe it can be hacked and new programming loaded in somehow so that independent hackers can build a better interface, then this thing would be awesome.

I am not happy with this player for these two reasons:

I click "Pause" button while the MP3 is playing and the MP3 stops playing. While I drive, the MP3 does not play. Then, I turn off my vehicle. When I start my vehicle again, the mp3 resumes playing automatically without me clicking "Play" button,

To see the time, I must click the display button twice. I see the clock for a few seconds and then it disappears. To see the clock, I must again click "display" button twice.

Other than these two dislikes, I like everything else about the player. (I really like that it remembers which MP3 file and the time position, even after turning off the vehicle). I think it's a great player considering the cost of $36 with free shipping. If this player would cost $50, I think it would receive 4 stars from me, considering my two dislikes.
