Right from the beginning, the characters, Emanuel and Erika, took my breath away. The heat between them was quick and never once died down. I easily devoured this novel in a short amount of time, because I could not put it down! I'm refraining from spoilers because I think everyone should read Brazilian Capture for themselves. Just know, that is one book you're not going to want to pass up and let's not even gloss over the fact, that is one of the hottest covers I've seen in forever!
I really adored Erika. She’s so clever and a few times I found myself sitting as close to my kindle as I could, laughing at her daring. She’s always looking for a way out, but she also approaches her situation carefully and thoughtfully. Erika’s a worthy opponent and one that keeps our hero on his toes!
Then there’s Emanuel who tries to keep up with our heroine with his Portuguese accent and his mystery and sex appeal…The heat was drifting off this guy’s skin!
But Erika and Emanuel both have hearts of gold too. Emanuel wants to do right by the family he promises to help—going so far as to kidnap Erika. He also wants to right his own past wrongs. And Erika’s the head of a foundation in her mother’s name, combating this new information about her father. Her loyalty pulls her one way, but Emanuel’s nature and his insistence pull her another.
The suspense was just alive and kicking. Though the connection does happen fairly quickly, it’s set up in a way that I believed, and it amped the attraction between them. I loved both of these characters, and together, they were dynamite.
Emmanuel wants the truth exposed. The corruption that caused housing to crumble and people to die. All his efforts to bring Silas down have failed. Frustrated he comes up with a plan he is sure will get him the answers and the justice he seeks.
Erika is her father's spokesperson, usually representing the foundation started in her mother's memory. Often she attends functions with or in place of her father. She heads out to one of these affairs with her contingent of bodyguards, one of which she thinks she recognizes. When they head in the wrong direction she realizes these bodyguards were not sent by her father. She is being abducted, albeit in an unconventional way.
As kidnapping's go this one was more of a game, a trap being set. Erika must be convinced to help Emmanuel destroy her father. Unfortunately that would also destroy her foundation, her mother's legacy. The fact that her father sends goons to retrieve her does much to win her to her abductors cause.
As they travel through the Amazon, staying at interesting venues their relationship evolves. One where trust must be earned and the attraction is volatile.
"Then why are you kidnapping me?" - Erika
"Because you mean a lot to your father, and unless he plays by my rules, he's not ever seeing you again." - Emanuel
Emanuel, a financial investor, has been biding his time since becoming president of a non-profit. He noticed Silas's embezzling and refusing to let him get away with it. Silas's actions caused women and children to die, and Emanuel can't let it go unpunished. Though he wants to comfort Erika when she realizes the position she's now in, he refrains, knowing that urge, and his attraction to her, can't be indulged. But if she had a different Dad... Plus, she'd been engaged to his older brother, Bruno, a few years prior. He needs Erika as leverage so Silas will hand over Raul, the only witness to his crime.
Erika, once they arrive at their destination, is beginning to understand the danger she's truly in, though she doesn't believe her Dad is capable of what Emanuel is accusing him of. But these things aren't enough to deny the reaction she has to Emanuel's touch. As for Emanuel, he has to stop picturing Erika in his bed and remind himself what her father is capable of, while helping her see the truth about her father.
As Emanuel and Erika embark on their journey for the truth, their chemistry is undeniable and they succumb to it. Though both state it can only be temporary, Emanuel and Erika know their connection is only growing stronger and the thought of it ending is painful to accept.
Is Emanuel willing to do whatever necessary to bring Silas down, even if Erika becomes collateral damage? Has Erika finally found a man that doesn't want anything from her? Or is Emanuel like all the others, using her for their own agendas? Is Erika's father guilty of all Emanuel believes him to be? Will Emanuel and Erika admit their love for one another and find a way to be together? Will the revelation of her Dad's actions impact her and the charity she oversees to honor her Mom? Is there a HEA in their future?
One-click now and follow along as two people, initially on opposite sides, come to an agreement while unsure of their future together.
