A young woman wakes up on a bus, not knowing who she is or why she is there. She gets off the bus in Colorado Springs in hopes of finding answers. What she finds instead is Dustin and more questions, especially about the teenage girl who led her to him.
I love how Ms. Williams interweaves the weather into the story. In some ways, it sets the tone and mood. For example it is a snowy day when the woman arrives in town. I also love the interaction between Dustin and the young woman as well as their thoughts about their unusual situation.
We're first introduced to a character who remembers nothing about her life. Can you imagine simply 'waking up' to no memory, right in the middle of a journey? Well, you can bet that caught my attention right away. We follow alongside the story of 'Ruby'- the woman with no recollection of her life, and how she came to be, and Dustin, a man who has guarded his heart and holds on to memories of a tragic past he can't move on from. The two form an intriguing bond. I love how awkward the two are around each other. I LOVE the banter. Oh the humor with them cracked me up! The mystery of "Ruby" kept me glued to the pages because I was desperate to know the answers. This is a magical story that really touched my heart as I got to read on with the unfolding changes between Dustin and Ruby. A beautiful novella for fans of unique love stories- this is one I can pull off the virtual shelves and read over and over again.
Thank you, Ms. Williams, for enchanting my heart once again. Oh, and I'm also hungry for Fazoli's, which are no longer in my city. Thanks a lot!
Tentative conversation and becoming aware of her surroundings she finds herself heading into Colorado Springs a few days before Thanksgiving. She has a bag of money, clothes, but no ID, phone or details of where she is going.
Alone at the bus station, a young girl beckons and she follows her to a local café, but the girl disappears. Believing she has amnesia, she allows local man Dustin to help her.
Dustin owns his own business and holds a deep pain inside, years ago a traffic accident caused the death of the love of his life. He sees a likeness in this vulnerable women and feels a need to help her. Aided by a little supernatural help, Dustin and the mystery women, both find a way of moving on and finding happiness.
This is a quick feel good read.
