"If you're fans of Tijan and Sara Ney you're going to die over this book. She's bringing back the nostalgia of new adult college romance in such an amazingly hate to love you, second chance way that you can't help be consumed in this fast paced story full of hate, lust, and love." -B. Celeste, Author of The Truth About Tomorrow
"I have a new crush. Well, a few of them, but one so big, I don't know what to do with myself."
"Bad Boys Break Hearts is the ULTIMATE enemies to lovers romance. THE. ULTIMATE. Off the charts chemistry, electric sparks, brilliant banter, perfect heat, and swoon...oh the swooooooooon!"
-Britt, The Red Hatter Book Blog
From the Author
Mascen's lips twitch and he attempts to hide the movement behind his fingers. "I'll have the steak marsala. Rare."
"Bloody unlike your cold dead heart. Got it." A choked laugh stutters out of his throat and he quickly turns it into a cough. "I'll put that right in."
I turn around, my ponytail swinging. Putting their order in I check on my tables and greet a man who just sat down. I don't feel tired yet, but I know when it's time for me to clock out the exhaustion will hit. It'll be worth it to have money and not worry. Unfortunately, grocery shopping will have to take place tomorrow.
When their order is up I grab it. Someone else might spit on his food for what a dick he's been since I saw him outside Cole's room, but I'm better than that.
I slide the salad in front of Barbie and then lift his steak off the tray.
"Here's your bloody rare steak, Hannibal Lecter. I hate to tell you it's from a cow and not the human corpses you normally gnaw on, maybe the local morgue can help you out or there's always murder."
His date is once again looking between the two of us. I can't blame her for what's going on and honestly, she's probably a nice girl and I should stop calling her Barbie, even if it's only in my head.
"Such a mouth on you. Bring me another drink." He lifts his empty beer glass.
"Right away, Dracula."
As I'm walking away I hear his date ask what's going on with all the nicknames and if he slept with me or something. I'm too far away to hear his reply. What a shame. I do give my eyes a hard roll though at the preposterous idea of the two of us ever bumping uglies. Mascen is wealthy. I'm the hired help.

If you like enemies to lovers then this book is for you.
Wellll... make not exactly. It’s more like friends to jerks to secret lovers.
It was hard to like Mascen for most of the book. It wasn’t just that he was a “bad boy” he was a straight up jerk to Rory. And it’s not like Rory was any better. She encouraged it almost as some messed up foreplay even when he almost made her cry several times.
Maybe this just isn’t the book for me. I’d more classify this as a bully book then enemies to lovers. And I just can’t get behind that. The story it’s self was fine and I ended up really liking them together, but it took too long for me to give this a raving review.
I received an advanced copy, but I still ended up buying the book in support of Micalea and that’s the version I read. And the editing... I’ve noticed lately the editing hasn’t been great, but this book was too noticeable to not be annoyed by it. There’s sections that would repeat themselves. He’d stand and then the next line he’d be standing again.
I was just really let down by this book. But maybe it’s more me then the book. One thing I did long was the interactions with Maddox and Mascen. If that was the whole book I’d be on cloud nine.
Micalea Smeltzer is one of my favorite New Adult writers. She can write books that are relatable from beginning to end. I appreciate her for that and continue to read her stories.
Aurora “Rory” Abbott is in her freshman year of college. Hoping to make ends meet with the money she has saved, she hopes to start new without too many college distractions. However, that all changes when she sees a man who was once a ten-year-old boy who she has greatly missed.
Mascen Wade may be the son of a famous musician and big man on campus, but he has secrets that not everyone is privileged to know. Mascen hadn’t seen Rory since she was 8 when her family abruptly left with saying goodbye. Now back in his life, he doesn’t know if he is happy or angry that Rory is at his same college.
The banter between these two was off the charts, and it showcases Micaleas strength as a writer. The angst between Mascen and Rory was just right. Not much that it was over the top and not too little that you felt these two secretly cared for one another but refused to say it.
I love the history of the characters. It really makes their love story so much more special.
There are a few surprises and mysteries which makes this book a great one to read. It’s not too crazy and really believable. I love that about this book even more so.
I want Li, Kenna, and Cole all to get them a good story. Kenna has the potential for so much.
"He can act like a bully all he wants, but he’ll never get me where he wants me."
Bad Boys Break Hearts is a standalone, enemies to lovers college romance. It follows grumpy baseball player Mascen and hardworking, witty Aurora “Rory”. The two used to be friends when they were kids, but Rory’s life pulled her in a different direction. Now reunited at college, it’s not a welcomed surprise on either end. Mascen is not the boy she remembers and Rory has dealt with things he has no clue about during their time apart. The only thing they appear to be on the same page for is their fiery attraction to one another.
"Mascen Wade seems more like a ghost than a human."
This book started off slow for me, but I ended up really loving it. Mascen’s relationships, including the one with himself, were especially interesting to me. It was more than a typical bad boy story. I loved how everything developed and the growth Mascen experienced in this book.
"If anyone was ever going to be my girl it had to be you, Princess.”
Mascen and Aurora had real chemistry. It was rocky watching the two push and pull each other and struggle with being vulnerable. There was something sweet about these two. I would love to see more about them in the future.
Check this book out if you like enemies-to-lovers, sports romance, college romance, and character growth.

I still really enjoyed the book and the characters
Mascen and Rorys story is one of 2nd chances , love 2 hate 2 love ❤️
I’m now going to start from the beginning!
Lucky for me I already had them in my library just hadn’t started them yet 😊
It’s not an amazing book but it’s not horrible either.
It’s pretty boring and predictable but if you like slow burns you may like it.
The bully part seemed a bit forced, the reason for it all was completely unfounded, even childish.
