Two very different, damaged people cross paths and discover that they are actually incredibly similar. Both feel that their damage is irreparable. They each live with a background that they don't wish to uncover but eventually will and learn that it's possible to heal and to find love. As you follow Dr. Oliver and Kaia through their story you will learn Oliver's past is far darker than you could've imagined.
The story is a psychological, but also sexual journey between two scarred people. Oliver and Kaia both have issues, and sex plays a huge role in those issues. Jennifer Domenico took those issues and handled them thoughtfully, honestly, and responsibly. And lemme tell ya, she knows how to build some completely insane sexual tension. The build-up of the physical relationship was so brilliantly done.
"Kaia, I'm an addict, but my only addiction is you."
I smile. "That makes two of us. "You cured me of one addiction and left me with another."
I felt so many emotions throughout the story and loved and embraced every single one of them.
Thank you for another amazing book Jennifer! Kudos to you '' A must read!
I loved how the romance grew in this book and it never felt rush or fake. It was amazing. I don't give five stars because even when it was a sexy read -and that was what I wanted- I didn't feel an emotional conection to the characters.
Kaia flies goes from LA to New York to seek therapy or treatment for her addiction. She meets with Dr. Scott where he informs her she will be living in a guest suite for thirty days. During this time of therapy, their attraction to one another is obvious and their feelings escalate. Oliver is determined that because he is treating her he can’t allow things to go there with them.
There was so much teasing and temptation in this book that I fell in love with Oliver in just the amount of time it took to read it. It was hard reading about what Kaia had been through, but it was a reward to see her work through it and to see things develop and take place with Oliver and her. It turns out Dr. Scott has his own monsters to battle. That was unexpected for me. It was hard to read, yet so relevant to the whole plot in this book.
Of course, I didn’t enjoy the subject matter, but I loved Kaia and Oliver and their journey to being together. The author did a very good job with this book. I do think that there was a little too much being thrown into the sex scene to make it “real”. The BDSM theme of it was fine and a lot of it very believable just a little too much packed into the one scene. I will definitely be reading more books from this author!
Even though there were many scenes I truly loved, the characters themselves, the storyline, the flow of Oliver and Kaia’s relationship seemed so real to me. Her feelings, her past, Oliver knowing what she needed. His feelings, his past (that came as a good surprise because it wasn’t in your face) and Kaia being her, helped him.
Oliver is pretty darn swoon-worthy- gosh he’s a great book boyfriend! I love all Jen’s leading guys and Enzo will always be special, all of them are special in a way but this book gave me the feels and I enjoyed this process. <3
Another Jennifer Domenico book that I absolutely loved!
Kaia London has a problem that she doesn't realize really is a problem until she is brought to Dr. Oliver Scott so he can treat her. Kaia and Oliver hit it off immediately and while Oliver's methods might not be mainstream, he swears they work. Oliver helps her to see the error of her ways, while she begins to uncover things from his past that he hasn't dealt with either. They fight the attraction that is slowly building as Kaia continues her treatment. In the end, will love win out over all of the demons they are fighting against?
I loved how this love story unfolded and the way that both traumas were dealt with. Kaia was a strong woman even with all she had faced in her life and I loved seeing her not only overcome her issues, but also lend both her strength and her love to Oliver.
I would highly recommend this book!
