Loved, loved, LOVED this book!!!! Well, except for a lil something that happened at the very end , I LOVE IT!!! To me this is how a BDSM by ok with a Female Domme should be written well Hell I think ALL BDSM books should be like that his..... What do I mean ? What I mean is both parties go into this either as a D or as a s knowing ( as at least having big a good clue) as to why they want and or Need this and their either going into or already in the lifestyle of their own free will, SOLELY BECAUSE THEY WANT IT!!!! Now both the characters here had great back stories where it made sense , of what they wanted / needed and why per say, but both were already in the life style, I've read so many or come across soo many where the female is the sub. where she's barely even heard of BDSM but the H is some Alpha jerk who rakes one look at her and thinks " natural submissive" and then proceeds to turn her into one whether she really wants to be or not because he stirs her hormones up just right and dampens her panties and her "free will" just seems to evaporate...... And the book was s really more about some jerk and his endless need for control and treating her like property... Why O why would any woman want that ? That not beautiful or sexy or neat, this for me is a story about two hurting ppl deeply in love coming together to meet each other's needs in a way No one else can who love other for who they are and are both the better for it. That's what love is! Love someone for who they truly are and you both being the better for it. Unlike most female sub. books where it's just about a woman being dominated and controlled where the man ALWAYS knows what ext for her like some warped 1950's tv show.. Wish more were like this and maybe the idea of a male Dom. wouldn't always have me wanting to punch him in the throat....
Need more books like this me this. Thank you I had a Great time!
Just wish the ending had more HEA and less HFN...

I absolutely loved this book. It is wonderful to see such a strong Domme in action and to see a typically Alpha male submit so beautifully. Both main characters have troubled pasts that bring up trouble in what could otherwise be paradise for them, it takes work to get through those issues and that makes the characters very real in my mind. This is saying quite a bit considering that I can generally only relate when the D/s relationship to focus on a female sub with a strong male Dom. But Roni is talented enough to suck me right in and make me relate to a role I've never held in real life and I really enjoyed it. My only complaint about the whole book is that the term g-d is used quite a bit... I generally have minimal issues overlooking it once or twice, but it still breaks me out of the mood for a moment, especially when it is used quite a bit...

The thing about Roni Loren's writing that acts as Romancelandia crack is how beautifully she shows the reader what the character is experiencing. No telling going on here.

Gib and Sam scened together once, when Gib was helping Sam reach Domme status. Things got heated and Gib couldn't deal with his reaction to their interaction. Since that one encounter, things have been strained between them. When Sam has a bad encounter in the parking lot of the bar she manages, she flees to the Ranch for release. Given the state of her emotions, Grant gently refuses her, so Sam hightails it to her sanctuary. Gib follows her there, wanting to offer comfort but unable to give Sam what she really wants - Gib's submission.

Lawd, the boy is in denial. We can see from his actions, from his internal dialogue, from his desire for Sam, where he really wants to be, but due to his abusive father, Gib equates submission with weakness. His submission, at least. He can't give up his mental image of what a "man" should be, even though he understands in a logical sense that he is wrong.

Sam had a craptastic childhood, as well. She took the bull by the horns, learned self-defense and is kind of awesome, really. She doesn't blame her childhood for her issues, she doesn't make excuses, she just accepts her needs and goes with it.

When Gib is considering his options, and missing Sam like crazy, he talks with Kade, who really helped open his eyes. Basically, if your kink is compatible and both parties agree, then who the heck cares what anyone else thinks? Pike and Foster really help to cement that thought for Gib, giving him the courage to reach out to Sam.

So -back to the writing...Ms.

As a reader who loves gritty and emotionally intense romances, I've gobbled up each new release in Ms. Loren's Loving on the Edge series as they perfectly balance character-driven storylines with steamy encounters. This newest release may be short but it's definitely not sweet as it takes its main characters to very dark places in search of their HEAs. Throw in brief glimpses of past characters and you get a reminder of how intriguing and supportive this unconventional family of friends truly is which keeps you immersed in their kinky world.

Gibson's childhood was one of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of his father who tried to eliminate his son's quietness and kind heart. Gib's sense of self came out of his ability to withstand the pain, to never show weakness, and while it's made him successful in business it's left him lonely as he can no longer ignore his true desires. He always saw himself as a dominant but after meeting Mistress Samantha he knows he's been living a lie as her power tempts him constantly. Going after what he desires though isn't easy as his father's words and deeds weigh on him, living up to other's expectations keep his desires hidden, and to be happy he'll have to show true strength in accepting his submissive desires. Gibson is an immensely likable man, sexy with heroic tendencies, but also with the pain of his past palpable. Preconceived notions of what it means to be a man batter at him and his reactions to embracing his Sub side are believable and understandable. His fears of being mocked and disappointing those he cares about had me wanting to hug him as these feelings were dark and deep. His Grand Gesture in winning Samantha, while unconventional, was a huge leap of faith for him and truly romantic.
