I wanted to wait a couple of weeks before writing this review, so all of the songs could sink in. I hate when people write a review after listening to an album once or twice. As it stands right now, I've probably listened to this CD all the way through 15 times. Pretty much every day since it came out.

This is a fantastic album. I absolutely loved "Leave This Town", so I won't say that this album is better, but it's definitely in the same league anyway.

Daughtry gets a lot of flack for putting out your standard "Verse, Chorus, Verse, Bridge, Verse" kind of song. I don't see what's wrong with that, as long as the music and content of the songs are good. It's not like this is bubble gum pop without any meaning or soul. These songs are deep, catchy, and fun to listen to. Anyone who criticizes this album for being too plain needs to get the rod out of their butthole.

Standout songs for me on the album are: Renegade, Crawling Back To You, Outta My Head, Start of Something Good, Break The Spell, We're Not Gonna Fall, and Spaceship. I just realized I put 7 of the 12 songs on my "Standout" songs, lol. Yes, it's THAT good of an album.

My only beef with this is the "Deluxe" version of the album. The songs that didn't make the cut aren't very good. "Leave This Town" had several B-Sides that were actually better than most of the songs on the album. But these B-Sides stink, and aren't even worth listening to. As big of a Daughtry fan as I am, I have to say that the extra songs are pretty bad.

I don't want to end this review on a down note. This is a GREAT album, and I urge you to BUY this album! Yes, BUY it. Chris Daughtry is a good dude, and I felt very comfortable buying 2 copies of this CD and putting some money in his pocket.

I'm a pretty hardcore Daughtry fan, and so far, I'm disappointed with this album. There are a few songs that may grow on me in time, but overall, I'm not really feeling it the way I did with the past two. There's no real stand out on this album. I agree with some of the critics that they're becoming formulaic and need to really shake things up next time so they don't start writing canned tunes. It's not a terrible album, and like I said, some of it may grow on me, but it's not up to their usual standards.

Daughtry have done it again, there's not a single bad track on this album, almost no rockers except "Renegade" but that's not a bad thing, Chris Daughtry's voice and writing skills have matured a lot, a song that really shows that is "Gone too soon" which talks about a miscarriage, one of the most emotional songs i've heard in a while.
Overall an amazing album that I can't get enough of!

When I order cds that are also available in a "deluxe" editions, I will usually listen to the samples of the bonus songs, to see if it's worth the extra few dollars spent for them. Most times it is, and with Daughtry's third album, not only is this true, but these 4 songs may just be my favorites on the album. I suggest anyone who is buying Break The Spell, go ahead and get the Deluxe version because the song Lullaby (a beautiful song obviously written for Daughtry's twins) alone is worth the extra 2 bucks.
Daughtry has been a favorite band of mine since their debut album and it doesn't look like I will be changing my mind about this anytime soon. Since the day I received my cd, I have kept it in my car's cd player and listened to it continuously for weeks. I just cannot get enough.
Standout songs for me are the aforementioned LULLABY, CRAWLING BACK TO YOU, CRAZY, GONE TOO SOON, MAYBE WE'RE ALREADY GONE and RESCUE ME. As the title of my review states, there really isn't a bad song on the album. As with their previous 2 efforts, Chris Daughtry and band show no signs of hitting a roadblock on their trail of success.

DAUGHTRY - BREAK THE SPELL - DELUXE EDITION

Daughtry graces us once again with a mix of some of the best of the best songs I've heard in a long time. This long-awaited CD has something for everybody on it. My favorites are CRAWLING BACK TO YOU, GONE TOO SOON, RESCUE ME, and LULLABY. Chris Daughtry's voice sings no song wrong.

The music is sharp and focused. Vocals are rich and strong. Lyrics are meaningful and ring true. This CD does not disappoint -- not one little bit.

I will never ever forget the look on Daughtry's face when he was voted off IDOL. Chris -- look at you now!

BRAVO! BRAVO! Highly recommended for all --

Thank you.

Pam

Posting reviews for others (RE: Amazon) to make money off of sucks. They expect my pithy retorts to make others plop down their hard earned $$$$ and give me nothing in return for my time spent writing ---- well, almost nothing --- You give me your thumbs up saying "Yeah, Your opinion matters". I feel so warm and fuzzy inside now knowing that You've clicked your approval at me.

If you like the artist, just buy the album.... who ever bothers reading these dumb self-promoting, badly spelled, and grammatically incorrect reviews anyway? (Unless maybe it's to groan at how bad our English has become with the younger crowd.)

It's music. Either you like, love it, or hate it. My tastes aren't your tastes... and if you're really here trying to decide whether spending $5 to buy songs you already know by heart anyway... then you're simply wasting your time. Just buy it and enjoy what you've gained.

SImple as that.
