This book was awesome. I loved the angst and drama but the sweet love between Alex and Christy.
POVs are in both of Alex and Christy. Ends in a HEA and i would recommend to everyone
Christy is really inexperienced and has no idea about the sexual part of life. I get that she is young but come on everyone knows how things work especially teenagers. Its almost as if she is a child. It was a great turn off and really took away from the sex scenes.
I also hate how Christy and Alex treat his car as if it is a human. They go on and on about how great it is and go as far as kissing the f****** thing. I mean come on. That’s totally immature and so unsettling.
The only reason I kept reading this book is because I thought it would get better but it was just so redundant with the training scenes. And to top it off the actual fighting scenes were nothing exciting.
I’m just not sure how this book got so many great reviews. I can’t see what those reviewers saw. This book just didn’t do it for me.
I think I would have really enjoyed the book if the characters hadn't been so rough, unpolished. The story had promise, just nor my cup of tea.
Listed as a MMA Sports genre there is much more to it than just the manner of audience sports. Christy and Alex are two very well drawn people who face problems that appear insurmountable but in the end the story works out well.
The synopsis outlines the destiny of these two characters well – ‘He's determined to protect her, even if it breaks him. Alex - Life's been pretty damn good to me. As the reigning middleweight champion, I've got money, power and fame. Not to mention a surplus of women willing to jump into my bed. All in all, I've got few complaints. I'm just living the dream... then Christy falls into my lap. She's young, vulnerable, and innocent. And she has enough on her that plate that she doesn't need any grief from an old bastard like me. But she's the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on. I can't stop myself from wanting her, even though there's more than a decade between us. I'm trying hard to keep my hands to myself, but she's proving to be a temptation too great to resist...Christy - The moment I celebrated my eighteenth birthday I became broke and homeless. Driven from the only home I've ever known by my crazy stepbrother -- I was lost, just trying to survive, but determined to make it. Alex stumbled upon me in my darkest hour, and he's taken me into his home. He's given me food, shelter and a fighting chance. Living with him though, I can't stop myself from falling for him. But he looks at me like I'm a little kid that needs to be protected. He thinks I'm too young, but I'm old enough to know that I want him to be both my first and my last.’
Age differences, living situations differences and more seem to stand in the way, but need and lust and longing are erased by the powerful relationship this story relates. Grady Harp, April 17
