About the Author

MJ Summers currently resides in Canada, not far from the Rocky Mountains, with her wonderful husband, three young children and their goofy dog. When she's not writing romance novels, she loves reading (obviously), snuggling up on the couch with her family for movie night (which would not be complete without lots of popcorn and milkshakes), hiking, and yoga (to make up for the milkshakes), swimming and camping (with lots of gooey s'mores and hard ciders). She also loves shutting down restaurants once a month with her girlfriends. Well, not literally shutting them down, like calling the health inspector or something. More like just staying until they shut the lights off.

MJ would love to hear from you! You can reach her at

For over twenty years Harper held a flame for the boy next door. Evan-from-Heaven Donovan. She spent her teenage years pining for the boy who never really saw her. Then as she got older and life happened she found herself following a great path in the fashion industry; allowing her dreams to become a reality. Her career took her all over the world and far from home, never allowing her the opportunity to delve back in to her childhood memories. Harper was ecstatic about her career knowing she was working her way to the top. The long hours though, left little time for her to return home. That is until the day she received thee call about her dad's accident, a day that would change her life forever, the day she would put her career on hold to go home to her family.

Evan grew up living next door to his best friend ,Wes, and Wes' fiesty little sister, Harper. He went on to become a contractor and made a good life for himself, but as we all know things happen. For Evan it was the recession and ultimately a divorce, which left him in a rough place. He had to find a way to stay strong and recover. Thankfully he was able to turn it all around and land a big contract. He was happy living in the house he bought from his parents, his childhood home. And when that beautiful woman moved in beside him he was shocked to realize that little Harper had become so drop dead gorgeous.

Evan and Harper quickly found themselves lusting for one another. They knew they shouldn't but two consenting adults would be able to have a casual relationship without terrifying feelings getting in the way, couldn't they? That is the question of the day. After old memories resurface and new ones are made, will Harper and Evan be able to remain casual or will they end up doing exactly what they never wanted to do?

This review relates to "Breaking Clear" which is included with the box set, Full Hearts Book 3. The author, MJ Summers, does an outstanding job of pulling you into her books from the 1st chapter. I have read this whole series and I can tell you that all of them can be read as a stand alone book. No cliffhangers! Yeah!!

If you read the series in order, you should read them in the following order since some character's are referenced in prior books:
1st - Break in Two
2nd - Breaking Love
3rd- Breaking Clear
4th - Breaking Hearts

Evan (hot construction man) is a sincere, previously married man scared of a relationship because his ex-wife left him because his company went through a rough patch. Harper (friend of Megan's from "Breaking Love" and art director at Style magazine) is a caring, beautiful woman inside and out, who puts others first.

Harper is called by her brother to return home since her father was involved in an accident that put him in the hospital, in Boulder, Colorado. She flies home not knowing if her father is going to make it or not. She then finds out that she will need to be with him full time since he cannot take care of himself. Harper's mother left them all when she was fifteen and her brother's can't take care of him with their jobs.

Her first encounter seeing Evan, (who she knew from childhood), is brought on because Harper is locked out of her father's house. This places her in a predicament trying figure out a way back into the house. Needless to say, this was a hilarious situation that had me laughing so hard that I couldn't stop my ribs from hurting. I am not going to spoil it for the reader and give details however, you must purchase this book to enjoy their interaction.

I'm going to be honest here, I almost passed on this for review..almost. I wasn't sure if I would have had the time to read the first two books, but the synopsis sounded so good, then once I saw it was a stand alone, I couldn't get started quick enough.
Harper and Evan are so frustrating! And I mean that in the best way possible. Both live in denial, neither will admit what they really want, and quite frankly, neither one of them really know WHAT it is that they want. They are both stuck in the past and in their own heads that they can't see what's right in front of them. It's so easy to say you're having fun when you don't think it's going to last. But when emotions get in the way, fate has other plans.
I love that Harper is independent, sassy and with the exception of Evan, takes the bull by the horns and dives right in with both feet to achieve what she wants. She made a successful career at a premier fashion magazine in New York, doesn't get too attached to men, and is living life on her terms.
Evan is the first male character that I really saw "guy logic" play a huge part in his life. You know how us girls take an event and spin it in our heads to where we totally lose all logic and reason concerning the situation? Well, apply that to Evan and his thoughts on marriage. He is so lovable, totally hot and I can see how it would have been hard for Harper to keep their arrangement of "just a good time" until she leaves. He had me when he walked in to her yard wearing a tux - just wait until you read that part! That was when I knew, they were perfect together. He got her.
As always, the past has a way of rearing it's ugly head and messing up what's right in front of these two.
