The Declan brothers trilogy brings about the emotional stories of love & forgiveness & understanding... The brothers learn that they can be better men than they ever imagined...
On a mission to break the one man who never gave her the time of day! Too bad her plan didn't work the way she planned.
Emmie Rue followed her best friend back to the Bayou for some summer fun and with hopes of finally laying to rest the one conquest that she never was ever to settle in her heart. Jax Declan. Older by a few years, and the quiet reserved brother of the Declan 3. Emmie had a crush on him for years but he never fell for her advances, but she was determined to find him, make him fall, and walk away.
Easier said than done!
Jax Declan took life as it came and when he was forced to grow up and take care of his brothers, that also meant putting what he wanted most on hold. That included not showing his feelings for Emmie. So her showing up in town turns things upside down and they both have to decide where to go from here.
The heat. The emotion. The connection between Jax & Emmie was slow building but had been building for a long time. Jax definitely knew how to take it slow and I enjoyed every moment of his slow seduction, especially since Emmie believed she was going to win Jax over first.
There were lessons to be learned on both sides and surprises that were not let out until just the right time. The brothers and friends added to the momentum of the story and kept the two on track.
This story was definitely a great start to the series and Jax & Emmie will be a HOT act to follow for the remaining brothers!
If you didn't read book 1 of the Declan brothers, you surely missed out, but I have to tell you that book 2 is definitely a bit different. A bit more intense, a bit steamier, and with the two fighting to find each other again, there is more of a battle...
Slate Declan has been living through his own personal torture for years. It probably started the day he pushed the love of his life out the door, but became worse when he became trapped in a fire. The pain he lived with was his own and he didn't want to share it with anyone.
Rayna, while she loved Slate with all her heart, felt betrayed all those years ago, but when she decided on a Summer back home she had a plan to make sure he felt some of the same pain she did all those years ago.
Rayna & Slate both had lessons to learn. They had to learn to trust each other again and they had to realize that true love never really dies. The journey these two were taken on was intense.
This story had a lot of twists to it that surprised me. I didn't see them coming and they made the changes to the story that much more intense and welcoming. I loved everything about these two. And I also loved how everyone played a part in this story because what Slate was going through was not something that he could have battled alone.
Watching these two fall in love all over again and the sexual tension explode between them took this book up to another level! And took Slate from the sweetheart to just plain HAWTNESS!
Another awesome story.
Young, Tough, and with everything to prove to his big brothers... Zeke Declan is thrown in the world trying to make his mark and prove that he fits in with his two older brothers. Each brother has strength and that is what made them one of the toughest MMA families around. But Zeke has more of a reputation than just a tough fighter. Women are drawn to him but he doesn't allow any of them to get too close. He has rules set to "protect" the women (so he says) and this has seemed to work up Lurlene comes to town.
Lurlene doesn't know what to expect when she comes to town with her friends and is told to BREAK Zeke! A schoolteacher from New York who can't say NO to her girlfriends has just walked into a firestorm. But both Lurlene and Zeke were in for something they didn't expect.
I didn't know what to expect from the final Declan brother and honestly, each brothers' story just got better and better. I didn't think there was anywhwere to go from Slate. But this was perfect closure to questions that I didn't even think to ask and an opening to a new series.
Zeke & Lurlene went through emotional turmoil and it was just the right amount to fit the story and bring the couple to where they needed to be.
The Declan Brothers were broke, put back together, and now building their way to be better than ever! Fabulous job, Kelly!
Jax (Breaking The Declan Brothers #1):
I would love to thank the author for the opportunity to read this book. We all need a Jax in our life. I am definitely adding Jax to my book boyfriend list.
Emmie, Rayna, and Lurlene decide to go back to Bayou for the summer. They have plan breaking the Declan brothers: Jax, Slate, and Zeke. Emmie had always had a thing for Jax. No matter how much she threw herself at him in high school, Emmie thought Jax did not notice. She has plan changing that and breaking Jax Declan. Will he break her or will she break him?
Jax who had a dark sexual side had a thing for Emmie Rue since she was 16 years old. Jax being a lot older then Em knew he had to wait until she was at a legal age before perusing her. Unfortunately things did not play out that way when Em turned 18. As Jax had to grow up to fast and life took Em in a different direction away from Jax. It did not stop Jax from longing for Em or Em longing for Jax.
This is a great love story and I so enjoyed reading the flirtation between Jax and Emmie. Got to love some a guy who knows his pie..LOL As you read about Jax and Em you start to watch their love grow and blossom. Will they ever be able to tell each other how the other feels? Will Em be able to embrace Jax dark sexual side?
I would recommend this book to any one that loves a good love story.
Slate (Breaking the Declan Brothers #2):
WOW, I loved Jax the 1st book and thought Kelly Gendron could not top that book but she has with Slate. I loved Slate and Rayna’s story. I loved that way Kelly did this book. You got not only a glimpse of what was going on in the present but also you got to see parts of their past. It help you understand the friendship, bond, relationship, and love between the two.
Rayne was determined to break Slate. He broke her heart, so it was time for payback. The problem was Rayne was not expecting to see Slate so broken. She knew when she laid eyes on him he was not the same Slate that she had fell in love with. The spark that use to be in his eyes was not there. His eyes had no emotion. They had a hollow look to them. What she was not expected was to find that he was a drug addict. How did that happen? What drove him to that point? Could she stand by and allow the man she once love be an addict to drugs and dead inside?
Slate did not want to feel. He sure as hell was not expecting the love of his life Rayne to walk back into his life. He used drugs to dull the pain, but that did not stop him from hallucinating and seeing his little monkey. Slates drug problem was hurting so many people that he loved including a real innocent person. What would it take to get him to turn his life around? Can he learn to feel again? Will him and Rayne ever be able to work things out or will the drugs consume his life until nothing is left?
There is a part of Slate that you will get to see in this book. Sorry I am not going to tell you if it is the past or present but it is the romanic part of Slate. See Slate can be a panties melter. I truly loved some of the things he said to Rayne. No wonder there was times she fell hard for him. He as her Superman.
I loved this book.
Zeke (Breaking the Declan Brothers #3):
I have read all three books of Breaking the Declan Brothers and each book has been amazing. Kelly Gendron is one amazing author. I have books that I refer to as shelf worthy, which means not only do I have them on my e-reader but they are so good I have a copy on my shelf at home. This is one series I call shelf worthy. This is the third book in the series but do not worry it can be read as a standalone.
Zeke Declan had 4 rules: (1) Don’t Call him. He’ll call you. (2) He doesn’t date. (3) No Sleepovers. And (4) Absolutely no virgins. You have to look at Zeke to wonder what caused him to have these rules. With each of the Declan brothers you discover there is some kind of scar there that they need to right woman to heal.
Things from Zeke’s past broke my heart. Sorry you will have to read the book to find out. Might want a box of tissue though. I cannot imagine leaving with that much pain, hurt, and guilt for so long. He defiantly needs to have someone to talk to. When you keep something like this in for so long it eats at you until there is nothing left.
I love Rayna and Emmie have talked Lurlene in to going after Zeke. Lurlene is perfect for she can not only get him to break rules 1-3 but is also the perfect one to break rule 4. Yip that is right Lurlene is a virgin. I so enjoyed reading about how she worked on breaking down all of Zeke’s walls. Does not mean that Zeke didn’t fight her along the way. There was so much hot sexual tension between the two of them.
I loved Rusty in this series. She did not mind telling it like it was. I think she is one of the reasons that Lurlene kept pursuing after Zeke. Rusty thought a lot of the Declan brothers and wanted what was best for them. In a way I think they were like family to her.
Lurlene knew what men like Zeke were like. She did have brothers that were just like him. In a way I think that helped give her some perspective on how to deal with him. I not certain Zeke knew what hit him.
Once again I would like to state how much I enjoyed this book, though throughout the book I had to wonder what it would be like to “Ride the Lighting.”..LOL
