Editorial Reviews

This was a definite 4.5 read for me. I devoured this book in one sitting. It is a very well thought-out story that progresses nicely. D.Kelly writes her characters with emotion and sincerity that makes them very likeable.
I can't wait to see what happens in the next installment of the series. If you don't like cliff hangers I suggest you wait till all the books are out, but will be missing out on an amazing story right now. Great job D. Kelly - Tonya Nichols ~ Eye Candy Bookstore

5 Stars! From the very first page, I was hooked. Having the story being told from different POVs makes it easier to see how and what everyone is feeling and it helps you understand how realistic those feelings are. .The story flows at a nice, easy pace and the characters develop in such a way that it's believable. The book ends on a cliffhanger that left me wanting to throw my kindle across the room. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book to see what happens to Kate, Daniel, and Mike. - Letty Loca ~ Cover to Cover Book Blog

I have to find a way to draw you into this book without giving things away!! How about I just say this.. It's in my top 20!! Let's start with the writing style, it's awesome & it draws you into this story from the very beginning. You learn the story from all parties involved & never once did it feel overwhelming like it sometimes can when multiple POVs given, not this time. I felt connected to all the characters even if they were supporting! I can't say this enough read it you will love it!! - Tara Zagata ~ Halos and Horns Book Blog

I've read this book twice now, and I cannot get it out of my head. These characters are going to stick with you. There is so much emotion and so many twists and turns, you are going to be high on adrenaline. I was sitting on the edge of my seat pretty much from chapter one. I feel like I should remind you, this is a trilogy. And I have it on good authority that the story will not be complete, until its complete. A strong start to a series. I need my hands on more! Amazing debut from D. Kelly. - Ashley Griffieth ~ Reviewing Romance Book Blog

I was lucky enough to get a pre read in of Breaking Kate from Dee herself before her quick arriving release day, and wow o wow this was definitely a keeper.
It had suspense, it had tension, love, compassion, want, need, desire, passion and great love shown between the characters.
I was totally wrapped up in this book for the 2 days it took me to read it, and I would have to recommend it out to all, I for sure can not wait to read more from the Acceptance series.- Trina ~ Trina's Tantilising Tidbits

Ok…just gotta get this off my chest… AUTHORS…ENOUGH WITH THE FREAKING CLIFFHANGERS ALREADY!!!!! Admittedly, D. Kelly isn’t the only author that is guilty of this, but I’m just getting beyond irritated with almost every book that’s being published here lately ending with a damn cliffhanger. It’s not that I didn’t like this book, it’s just that I know I would have enjoyed it so much more if there hadn’t been a cliffhanger at the end.

With that being said…this was quite the emotion inducing read, filled with first loves, lost loves and finding new and fulfilling love. And talk about drama… well, this one had it in spades with plenty left over. The characters were adequately written, but I liked them better as couples than as individuals. I’m not sure if this was deliberately done in order to magnify the sense that they all seemed to be “broken”, in one way or another, and finding their “soul-mate” empowered them begin to heal. My favorites, Kate & Daniel and Connor & Jess really seemed to find personal growth and fulfillment from not only the direct relationship they shared within their own pairing, but also when the two couples interacted together. Everything just seemed so easy, effortless and comforting on a mental and emotional level to all of them. This didn’t seem to be the case when comparing the earlier relationship between Kate and Mike. I understand the need for closure with past relationships that end unexpectedly and without adequate explanation…but I just didn’t get the self-sacrificing decision Kate made at the end of the book to ensure the continuing friendship and familial bond between the “boys”, Connor, Daniel and Mike.

Good lord. This thing read more like a soap opera than a novel. There are a ton of characters, wealthy families, instalove, drama, drama, drama.

There's a lot of dialogue and we're told rather than shown what is going on and it's choppy. I'm not a fan of this writing style, and the storyline is interesting, but not interesting enough. The author paints Kate and Daniel as the ideal couple bonded by their insta-love and the stuff Daniel says is over the top romantic, almost to the point of being nauseating.

Some of the plot twists would have been more interesting if we knew more about the relationship between Kate and Connor. And then there's mention of Marc, who is supposed to be such a good friend, but we don't meet him until the very last 10% of the book. Weird.

There's one issue I have which is not a biggie, but annoying to me anyway and I'm kinda hoping that I misread something. Kate just turned 24 and 3 years ago she breaks up with her first boyfriend, so by arithmetic that would make her 21 when that happens. But it's written as if she hadn't yet started college and typically kids start college at 18 or 19, especially those from wealthy families, unless there's a major issue that causes the delay. So what happened in that intervening time?

Also the cliffhanger ending is just ridiculous and doesn't make any sense at all.

First off, holy plot twist and cliffhanger!!!
D. Kelly had me hooked from the first words all the way to the end. I had a hard time breaking away and living in real world.
I loved watching the love grow between Daniel and Kate. It's a type of love everyone wants. The type of love that heals broken hearts and makes you feel whole. I went through the whole book with a love/hate feeling for Mike.
I loved all the different POVs. You got to "read" inside everyone's head. D. Kelly did a great job keeping their personalities in check. No matter which POV you were reading everyone's good and bad characteristics stayed the same.
The emotions where so incredible in Breaking Kate. You could feel the love, lost, anger, lust, and heartbreak.
I can't wait to read more! I am hooked on this series
