This book will make the left's heads spin as they cannot hide from the truth, nor can they refute the facts presented. The book is heavily sourced & cited, so the left will have to do their homework to debate any of it. Alex Marlow talks about being educated in the deepest of lefty territory (Hollywood, & Berkeley), to how he became the Editor in Chief for Breitbart News. He then gets right into exposing the left's use of the mainstream media to force their narratives upon the American people by gaslighting & propaganda. Many stories that you probably still believe to be true are thoroughly debunked throughout the book. From the left's constant attack on Breitbart News with baseless claims of racims, bigotry, & antisemitism; to how they shaped their narratives in coordination to attack President Trump and his 10s of millions of supporters with the same baseless lies, & falsehoods. Fake news stories like the fraudulent attacks & made up stories about Brett Kavanaugh, Juicy Smollett, Bubba "The Noose" Wallace, Charlottesville "fine people" lie, Russia/Spygate hoax, & on & on, Marlow provides all you need to debate your liberal "friends" who have no interest in the real stories about these hoaxes, and media driven narratives. If that's not enough, Marlow goes on to expose who is funding these left wing establishment media outlets, and the incestuous relationship between the Democrat party, and those at the top of multiple outlets like NBC, CNN, ABC, The Wash. Post, NY Times, & on & on. Their only goal, to bend the knee to our enemies, while lining their pockets. The establishment left does not care about you, or me. They only care about the money train from China - American values be damned. This is the kind of book they should be teaching at our indoctrination camps aka Colleges & Universities throughout America, instead of the garbage "woke" culture nonsense like the 1619 project, and various other identity politics, victimhood falsehoods, America is awful, Marxsist frauds who have no problem selling out to the highest bidders, while expecting you to give up everything. Rather than blowing this off as some "alt-right" manual for Conservatives, maybe read it liberals. Then compare what you have been forced to read & see with what is truth, or, what was retracted, & fully debunked with sourced & cited throughout the book. I doubt you'll ever sway from your indoctrinated, ideology that has NEVER worked throughout history, but at least you might learn something that you didn't know - or have been perpetually lying about since it occurred. Do you really think Chuck is some objective news reporter based on that fact alone? Yet, he's allowed to pretend to be some objective, neutrual truth getter on the Sunday news programs, instead of - like Breitbart, simply embracing who he is & who he stands for. Why is that? It's sad how far the left has pushed this country down, while being supported by their useful idiots who simply see the world as 'us vs them', and that it's just 'politics as usual' comments. Ignoring the blatant racism, bigotry, sexual misconduct, & antisemitism by their party - most specifically Joe Biden and for the baseless lies against Donald Trump, The Republican Party, & their supporters. I remain optimistic that the pendulum cannot continue to sway this far to the left, and will eventually swing back in our favor with an astounding, thunderous, BOOM! I will also remain optimistic that eventually those moderates, or those independents will finally take a stand and say, "you know, I may disagree with Conservatives, or Republicans on some policy, & we can debate that as our forefathers intended; but something is clearly wrong here when those with different views are banned from social media. When the national news networks, in coordination with cable news are shaping stories that are not true to play on my emotions or flat out lying with minimal retractions, or, to make me think the worst about my political opponent by calling them the worst things you can be called with zero evidence to support these claims." Marlow covers the entire media history of the Trump era (including some prior history) and how the corrupt media establishment has shown its true identity during this time, how they operate, and how they are tangled in a complex web of corporate ties and overlapping conflicts of interest. All is revealed, debunked, and set straight. Marlow also manages to keep a very heavy topic somewhat light (although it can still be anxiety inducing for some) with a snarky sense of humor. “Breaking the News” is incredibly well sourced - roughly one third of the book is dedicated to source notes - and even has Peter Schweizer’s stamp of approval. “A must read” for every American.

There are also some uncertainties and predictions that Marlow puts forth in these chapters that are a little cringey (especially regarding J6) given that it’s been over a year since he finished writing this book and conservatives have made a major comeback and a vast majority of the population has awakened (that’s why I usually don’t buy books like this until all is said and done). Those reading this book who were already generally aware of what he discusses will understand what I mean, because a lot has happened and dramatically changed in the last year plus. This is fine and doesn’t do any harm to the credibility of the book because the sole purpose of this book is an expose of media corruption and hypocrisy for a specific time period, and the history of the root causes of this corruption are still highly relevant.

I understand Marlow still has to potentially appeal to readers who were completely hook, line and sinker throughout this time period and therefore had to make all the information in this book digestible, but sometimes I felt like he was holding back. My main criticisms mostly pertain to chapters 7-9. For example, I’m a little confused as to why he didn’t do more to address the faulty PCR tests, which were essentially the root cause of perpetuating the “pandemic”, or didn’t mention any other governors aside from Cuomo that shoved elderly into nursing homes. There were also times where he could have focused solely on the media rather than formulate “coulda, shoulda, woulda” opinions, because it might have allowed the book age slightly better (maybe I’m nitpicking). Marlow sometimes weighs in on his opinion too frequently regarding what Trump could and should have done in certain situations without any regard to the constraints Trump was working within, and the decisions that Trump and his confidants had to make based on knowledge that only Trump and these fellow confidants had - as if Marlow had knowledge of all the classified information that only Trump and his team would have access to. Again, those who have been following closely for years will understand what I mean upon reading.

That aside, this book is an excellent history of why and how the media and everything corrupt went into overdrive 2015-present. It is one of the major threats that needs to immediately be corrected in order for us to move forward as a nation. All other reforms are meaningless if we don’t have a fair media and elections.

Anyone looking for a study that is broader in scope regarding our current crisis should read Victor Davis Hanson’s recent release “The Dying Citizen”.
