Read the book!!! You won't be sorry you did!
I was looking forward to this book, and I was not at all disappointed (I'm more disappointed in the amount of time it took me to finish it; such a bummer when real-life gets in the way of reading). These are characters I want to revisit, and thankfully, I will... When the 3rd book "Synapse Continuum" arrives in 2017.
So, it's not too late to get in on the fun. :)
This is a continuation of Edge of Darkness. This is more Sierra's story. And it was so enjoyable. It showed more her internal struggles regarding the augmentation and her feelings. In addition to everything else going on in the world that she is dealing with. The first book, had a lot of background and set up and this one picked up where that one left off with the action.
I appreciate that the author, when sending me the file, gave me the heads up that there were the content warnings for this book. It helped a lot. Both in my ability to read the book and my ability to enjoy the book. The book still reminds me a lot of Deus Ex with the augmentation. And I don't think the trilogy will ever stop reminding me of it. But it's not a bad thing. It's just what it is because I play video games as well as read books as well as have a lot of book reading and video game playing friends.
Calder has wanted Sierra since the first day that he meant her but she pushed him away so he has been her friend since. He is trying to help her cope with her new abilities as he has similar ones but he agreed to have then done and he is able to control them. He worries about her but he is on a mission in space at the moment and he can't look after her.
Sierra abilities have pushed her over the edge and she is scared that she will hurt someone that she loves. Things don't go well for Calder and he is lost in space and Sierra can't allow him to disappear from her she will do anything to save him. Can she get to him in time or will she lose him as well?
A great story full of action and hopefully understanding. I really hope that they can find a way to make things work. I received a copy via book review buzz in exchange for an honest review.
