If you ever found yourself reading or watching a Shakespeare play secretly waiting for the good part, this book's for you. It's ALL the good part.
If you ever had to consult the footnotes to understand the significance of Shakespeare to the audience of his day, or more importantly, our day, this book's for you.
"As we know, senators are mostly incompetent, generally in capable of agreement or leadership, and one might occasionally fantasize about life under a benevolent dictator."
Like those ads for speedy opticians promise, Mooney's skillful abridgment and witty asides will have you seeing Shakespeare clearly in about an hour.
This time, for "Breakneck Julius Caesar", I'm not near a Fringe, so I grabbed the book hot off the press and am approaching Julius Caesar from the other side -- words first.
I am luxuriating in mental magic as I read, but I must MUST see the mystery and magic brought to life in the way only Tim can do it, even if I have to travel across the country to see him do it! Or if someone actually produces a video that will enable this incredible theatrical and literary masterwork to be shared by students, classrooms, individuals and audiences everywhere. (As well as live at the Fringe!)
