I own the first Breathless Body and love it, so of course I had to order this one as soon as I could. I just did the workout for the first time today and I can say that it's a great workout as well. This workout has four drills plus a finisher. Each of the four drills consists of three exercises, each done for thirty seconds and each followed by fifteen seconds of rest; the set of three exercises is repeated x3 to complete the drill. There's a long rest after each drill while the three exercises for the next drill are introduced. There's a final finisher that's all twelve exercises, done for thirty seconds each, without rest. There are three levels for each exercise.

I have to say this workout "sneaked up" on me with regard to intensity. The first drill was intense at Level 3, but I wasn't gasping for breath. I jogged through the recovery and was pretty certain that this was going to be a moderate-to-hard workout rather than the intense experience that I loved about the first Breathless Body. Turns out that was wrong. By the end of the workout, I knew that I literally would not be able to repeat a drill even if I had wanted to. This is a great workout that really offers a lot for advanced exercisers. I also think Amy comes across as down-to-earth and very positive, and she looks very athletic. The background exercisers were well chosen--it's nice to see a man included in a fitness DVD, and one of the two women featured wasn't stick-thin, which I imagine would be encouraging to fitness enthusiasts who aren't petite. If you're obsessive about making to that hour mark for your workout, as I am, don't be put off by the fact that this workout clocks in at just over 50 minutes--the work really gets done and done well in that amount of time.

let me start by saying I'm overweight by a lot. I quit smoking, threw caution to the wind on my eating habits and now I am fat. 5'3 and over 200 lbs. So..finally sick of being fat and tired I decided to get back in shape. I'll be 45 this year and just don't care to finish life up as a fat chick. I'm sharing this for those who feel this work out would be out of their league. It's not. I loved the fact there is 3 levels to chose from. I started at level one and sweated my butt off! There are 3 floor exercises sprinkled through the video which sucked to get up and down from but that's what happens when you have a fat stomach and achy knees. I just went at my own pace which Amy encourages you to do through out the video. I found all the other exercises very do-able. I don't mean easy-but do-able if you are a bigger person or have knee/back issues. my plan is to do this work out 2-3 times a week and work towards the other levels. If you are more advanced this work out is still going to kick your butt! I would highly recommend!!

I am a huge fan of Breathless Body Volume 1. I perform that workout on a weekly basis and love the way it conditions my body, builds my endurance, and cultivates mental discipline. I would have been happy if Breathless Body 2: The Edge used the same tabata format with different exercises however instead the set up is significantly different and I think this makes the time fly by even faster. You perform 4 major sets that each have 3 exercises that you perform for 30 seconds each and then a quick break and you go through that three times per set. The final section, after set 4, you go through all 12 exercises for 30 seconds with no rest. The time flies by and I found the 4 sets to be challenging at an intermediate level (I bounced back and forth between level one and level 2, mainly level 2) and then the final set where you go through all 12 exercises is totally killer. I cramped up and had to go at a slower pace towards the end - obviously I'll have to really build up some more endurance or make sure that I hydrated better prior to the workout. I feel like all 12 exercises hit your muscles well and that you get more of a strength building element in this than Breathless Body 1 which was perhaps more focused on pure cardio. Expect to see a lot of plyometrics with some plank variations and more of a focus on strengthening core and hips. Performing some of the exercises at level 3 gives you the option to work in some push up's. As always, Amy is very inspirational, has a good presence and she keeps it REAL because you can see the sweat and effort exerted with her and her models and you see them go through their own struggles and endurance issues. Love this video and will make it part of my regular weekly rotation. Would love to see a Volume 3 in the future!

This is a great HIIT workout that will definitely get your heart rate up and burn calories. I purchased Amy Dixon's first Breathless Body video after reading a positive review in Fitness Magazine a few years ago. I loved its challenging Tabata combinations and I was excited to try this new DVD when it came out. I should start by saying that I got interested in HIIT training after completing P90X. I actually enjoyed PlyoX and was looking for a new DVD that would challenge me much like that one. So I picked up Amy Dixon's first DVD. If you don't have her first DVD, I highly recommend it, but you don't need to start with it - you can easily start with this one. I now own the first three DVDs, and I will admit - I enjoy this DVD the most in terms of easily keeping my heart rate up without feeling like I'm going to die. However, I pick her first DVD when I'm looking to challenge myself the most. I find it slightly more difficult to get through that one, and I feel a little more accomplished when I finish it. But on days I'm feeling like I can't inspire myself to do the first DVD, I pop this one in. It never disappoints.

This workout is separated into four primary workout blocks with a superset block in the end (5 total). Each workout block includes three exercises that you do for 30 seconds each followed by 15 seconds of rest. You cycle through them three times. This ends up being something like 6 minutes and 30 seconds per block. Then you change the three primary exercises you are doing and do another block. After you have finished the four blocks, she has you do all twelve exercises in a row - 30 seconds each with no rest in between. It's a killer.

I really like Amy Dixon's workouts because they aren't typical aerobics workouts.
