Sometimes she might seem a bit long-winded and you might find yourself wondering "And where's that chapter on colouration you were talking about in the first few chapters?", but if you are interested in genetics, either as a (would-be) breeder or simply a biology geek, it's a fun and interesting book and I can't recommend it quite enough.
