This is the third acoustic bass guitar I have owned and I have played many others. I have owned a Tacoma Thunderchief and a Michael Kelly dragonfly 5 fretless. This bass outshines them both in sound and playability. The neck is very playable and the onboard preamp with it's built in tuner is very clean. This bass also has a pinless string through bridge as opposed to a pinned bridge, which i personally prefer. This bass comes with a hardshell case that is very well made and is constructed more solidly than either the Tacoma case or the TKl case that I purchased for my Dragonfly. The tone is full bodied and projects very well and i actually like the tone of this bass better than any acoustic bass I have played, which includes the offerings by DEAN, Ibanez, Fender and Takamine that can be found at most Guitar Centers. The bass is very well constructed and is not as fragile as the Thunderchief I had. At it's full price of $900 in most retail establishments it would be a fantastic purchase. At the current price listed at The Perfect Bass of $500 this bass is a total steal and you will not find a better made, better sounding brand new acoustic bass guitar at this price anywhere.

I knew I wanted a playable, affordable acoustic bass and did a lot of online research and in-store tryouts. I couldn't believe it when I found this bass, used, for 300$. It had been played, according to its original owner, two or three times. I was so excited to buy it that I couldn't sleep for days thinking about it while it was being paid for and shipped. I bought it through Ebay. It took about 10 days from bid to purchase to arrival.
When i finally held it in my hands I was amazed at its lightness, its beauty and its playability. HOWEVER, it buzzed like crazy!!! I down-tuned it, I up-tuned it, I put a capo on it, I put two capos on it, and no matter what I did, the buzzing remained. I almost was in tears. Then, I took it into a local music store which deals Breedloves. The tech saw the b ow in the neck which I didn't see, but obviously heard the result. He grabbed the allen wrench from the bench, and turned the truss screw very slowly until, miraculously, as he loosened the tension (turning the screw towards himself, guitar postioned with headstock in right hand, cutaway towards his stomach, turning clockwise) the buzzing absolutely disappeared. I was ecstatic.

I've had the guitar about 36 hours and have played it about 12 hours and I love it. I can't believe that I have such a great guitar, better than I thought I could own. I have a Breedlove 6-string Atlas which I play about 35 hours a week, and now I have a brother to it and I couldn't be happier. This is an affordable jewel for someone who wants a high quality acoustic/electric bass. If you want an acoustic bass, look for a Breedlove, and if you see one, try it out. I'm fairly confident that you'll love this instrument. I am now interested in moving into the fretless model!

Hard to believe you can get something this well made and set up for the price. The hard shell case was a pleasant surprise as well. Though my principle use for it will be recording, it's fun to have around.

Guitar came as advertised, perfect condition, on time and with a hard case. The guitar sounds great, good action, and is well made. But, this is what i would expect from Breedlove.
