About Brenda Drexler
Hi, I'm Brenda Drexler, an author, teacher, retired Psychotherapist, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, yada, yada, yada...(thanks Elaine)...and have always had a passion for writing and reading and people and their relationships. I had to semi-retire to be able to dedicate the time and energy I wanted for writing. Good decision. I love writing.
I work my word-magic, humble as I am, in my home office in Southern Indiana, although I must admit to being a transplant from Louisville, KY.
*My first book of short stories, Four Shorts for Your Bucket List, can be found on Amazon as a Kindle book and paperback.
*I published a number of my short stories in anthologies, Southern Indiana Writers and Sellersburg Writers, among others.
*GRACIE AND MARGE: KICKING THE BUCKET TOGETHER is my first novel. Is it okay to say that I simply love my main characters? They were born in one of my short stories, also found in my book Four Shorts. Some people have compared this novel to THELMA and LOUISE, but I say that Gracie and Marge have a lot more sense than to drive off a cliff when there is life to be lived. Skinny-dipping, anyone?
*Life in it's Own Frame of Reference is a book of eclectic stories from amusing and humorous to dark and shadowy. "Not a one alike," quoted one of my reader's. Most of my stories have at least a thread of truth that is woven into fictional stories where destinies can be changed by a single keystroke.
*Most recently published, my first historical fiction, Redemption on a Kentucky Poor Farm takes place in Kentucky after the Civil War. The poor farm becomes home to those in need in many different ways. Some struggle with internal and external struggles where either positive or negative change tells their future. Enjoy the read.
*More books and short stories upcoming. I currently have several stories that are vying for the next spot on my list of writings. I do believe it will be another historical fiction set in Louisville, KY during a very dark time in the local history. A time of hatred and a bloody mass murder.
*I am available to visit and, perchance, read for local book clubs who have read one of my books. Just contact me:

Blog postI know it’s nowhere near Mother’s Day but I just came across this again and have to share. Don’t wait for an official day to let your Mom or Dad know how much they mean to you, or how special your children and grandchildren and friends are to you. And, if there is conflict in your relationship, try one more time to mend it. We do run out of time folks…out of time to say what we wished we’d said, out of time to do what we wished we’d done, out of time to right wrongs and mend special rela4 years ago Read more

Blog postHemp Oil is Here to Stay, Maybe
It’s legal! Hemp, CBD, is for sale everywhere. For some it seemed inevitable. For others it was unimaginable. It’s been years and generations in the tearing down and the making. A long road travelled. A lot of people chased down and arrested for sowing and reaping the wicked weed.
I’ve never researched this mysterious plant with the interesting leaves, but it has been in the periphery conversation of a nation (when not on the front pages of news4 years ago Read more -

Blog postFact: Yesterday I went to the Gulf Shores Sate Park Pier.
There is no disputing facts. There is no gray area or in-between when it comes to stating fact. You either are, or you are not dead, married, pregnant, etc. If anyone has reason to dispute a fact, then it is called something else.
Perception: Yesterday I went to the pier and it was awesome. I thought it was awesome. Some people might not appreciate the same things that I do, therefore, would argue that it was5 years ago Read more -
Blog postDon’t you get tired of waiting. So many places and reasons to be held up from what you really want to be doing. August was a health nightmare when I had to have 3 emergency eye surgeries. I’d never heard of Acute Angle Closed Glaucoma…amazing how many maladies might be waiting around the corner. I willingly sat in a chair and let a very qualified opthamologist shoot holes through my iris and then into a drain tube somewhere in my right eye, then later into my left eye to get rid of extreme press5 years ago Read more

Blog postThe phrase bucket list became rather famous – at least talked about, thanks mostly to a touching movie that starred Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. It became not only a household phrase, but also part of household conversation. It became the topic of news articles, large and small get-togethers, and small talk between friends. Simply put, a bucket list includes those things you want to do or accomplish before you kick the bucket/ die.
Of course, you don’t have to be on d5 years ago Read more -

Blog postI’m posting this article from Chuck Wendig and it is chuck full of advice. Note that he is quite long-winded and a bit raunchy on occasion. So, read on if you will. Learn something helpful.

It was a couple weeks back that authorial sorceress V.E. Schwab said that few writers offer good business advice, and she named me among some others like Kameron Hurley and John Scalzi, who do so. It’s been a while since I’ve offered anything remotely like business advice for writers5 years ago Read more -
Blog postHi everyone. Hope you’re having a great day. Sort of dreary and wet here in Southern Indiana. but, I do want to share with you my author questionnaire on Jen Selensky’s blog. It was fun to be asked questions that I don’t often think about. Anything to get the cobwebs out of my head, right? Here goes.
