I bought the Breville Boss from a brick and mortar chain store (sorry Amazon, I needed it that day). After having the "black specks/debris" issue with both the Vitamix 750 and the Waring MX1200xtx, I wanted to find a healthier option that performed just as well. Both the Vitamix 750 and the Waring MX1200xtx were powerhouses that worked wonderfully, but for the black specks issue. I purchased the Breville Boss just a few days ago, so I cannot attest to its long term use. So far, it blends wonderfully. Silky smooth green smoothies. I have tried the smoothie, green smoothie, and the auto clean functions so far, and all have worked great. There are a lot of features with the Boss (almost too many), and it has all the bells and whistles and power of the Vitamix 750. It is a 1500 watt, 2 HP, NSF Certified blender, and has a 7 year limited warranty. My box states that it was designed in Australia and assembled in China (as many blenders are). It also comes with a heavier tamper than the Vitamix and a flexible spatula (plus a cookbook). Now it is just a matter of seeing how it stands the test of time.

Update: Have been using this blender daily since purchase. Still very impressed by it. In fact, family members think the smoothies are even smoother and better blended than with the Vitamix 750 we had just prior to this Breville Boss. I also like the design and shape of the container. It feels very solid and well made. It is significantly cheaper than the Vitamix 750, and I think works as well as, if not better than the Vitamix.

Made a Spinach Berry Kale smoothie and showed a few of the features of the Breville Boss. If there are any questions, ask away. I will be posting more videos on youtube, which this one is there as well.

P.S. We have also made a banana, pecan, and honey frozen desert with this blender. Incredible taste!! Trying new recipe's everyday!

Comparison review on Breville Boss, Blendtec, Vitamin 5200.
I've used and owned all 3 models. I buy fruits and vegetables weekly and precut them into cubes and freeze them into ready to mix bags. When I am going to make a smoothie, I boil some water and open a bag of these frozen goodies into the blender and pour in boiling water to help them thaw and the result is a great juice/smoothie all year long. With the same ingredients, the results are as follows:

Noise level: The Blendtec and the Breville are both very loud (they are all LOUD and NOISY when blending) but in terms of decibel, Vitamix is a bit better.
Blend quality: I have to be honest, the Vitamix blend quality is the best, the result is most smooth smoothies money can buy. Breville Boss Blendtec is the last.
Easy to operate: I have to say the Blendtec is easiest and Breville is the second. Vitamix (the model I have didn't have the presets) so I am often guessing how long I need to blend at what speed.
The quality: I've never had any problem with Blendtec, nor Breville, but the Vitamix I had to call the factory and replaced a belt, after less than 2 years of use.
Cost: Blendtec was $449 when I got it at Sams Club a few years ago. Vitamix was $499 when I got it at Costco a while back The Breville here is a good deal from Amazon at $390.
Warranty: Breville has 7 years, Vitamix has 5 years, so is Blendtec.
They are all 2 hp in terms of power.
I like mixing rod of Breville being a solid rod. The Blendtec didn't come with one and the Vitamix has one but I rarely use it. Breville also has a spatula to help scrape out the content.Read more ›

I debated about making this purchase for a long time as it seemed like an extravagance that I could perhaps live without. Finally, I decided to regard this purchase not as an extravagance, but rather as an investment in my health. Having recently completed some pretty rough cancer treatment, I have been studying how to support my body's recovery with cancer-fighting foods and a carefully thought out diet. Green smoothies have become a part of my daily life. Adding lots of veggies and fruit to my old Hamilton Beach blender put a huge strain on my reliable old machine, and I had to chew the finished product that my machine had worked so hard and overheated to produce. This Breville Boss is fantastic for my purposes. It can pulverize anything without any strain whatsoever. I just love it. It makes wonderful smoothies, and I have also tried the soup function with very good results. With its seven-year warranty and the excellent results it produces, this machine and I will be spending a lot of quality time together. I chose this machine rather than the more expensive Vitamix equivalent based on the reviews I read on amazon. I agree with all the amazon raters who said this is a very fine product. It certainly is.

After having researched and researched, I'm thrilled to receive my Breville (Prime membership made delivery time an amazing 23 hours!).
I had long wanted to get the US made Vitamix, but the infamous and— to date— unresolved issue of "black specks" made me expand my research into other high performance blenders. There are some great videos on YouTube that show the power and quality of the Breville Boss, but there are some that are laughable, because they attempt to show Breville as the weaker of the Breville vs Vitamix rivalry, but they were not comparing apples with apples. They compared Vitamix to a regular $100 mixer from Breville, not the equivalent pulverizing type that is the. Breville Boss.
I'm typically not wild about digital displays, but the Breville's is a huge help; for example, the timer displays time lapsed or time remaining, depending on what function you're using. And the "auto-clean" feature automatically switches between blending and pulsing of soapy water, while you load dishes or sip a cocktail for those couple of minutes.
I haven't had this appliance long at all, but I'm giving it a good workout and will post again should there be any trouble in its functioning or quality. Delectable green juices, smoothest smoothies, and freshest hot soups: a new lease on life!

P.S. I'm also satisfied owner of a Breville tea kettle and aghast to have paid about $100 for it years ago. I wanted a solid, quality appliance (I used to get with Braun or Krups when they were more available) and Breville fit the bill perfectly.
