With so many recipes suggesting mixing times, we've added a timer to this hand mixer. It allows you to accurately track your mixing time for precise results. And with a strong 200W motor, 16 speeds plus turbo boost, beaters, whisk and dough hooks, it has the versatility to handle all your mixing tasks. Now that's handy.

This is an old school mixer, the kind that was made a long time ago. Except Breville managed to make this lightweight, energy efficient, and powerful all in one package (old hand mixers were really heavy and hard to handle). The minute I started this up I knew it was something special. The motor sounds like a good solid drill, not some whiney loud motor that is all show and no go. There is no gear whine and plenty of torque to blend really difficult things (the second time I used this was with the two dough hooks to blend two pounds of bread dough - the mixer never complained once). Even as mixes thickened the motor never strained to keep speed up.
This feels really great in my hand, the handle is curved and exactly the right shape for control. I like the big flat back so the mixer will stand up proud and stable on the counter. Three different mixing attachments are a plus. The regular beaters work perfectly. There is a single whisk attachment that can whip egg whites and cream up with no difficulty. And the two dough hooks are impressive.
On top of all that great construction and solid motor, they did something's super cool with the controls. Flip the power switch on and nothing happens. Press the + button and the mixer starts up very slowly - hey how about that perfect for blending dry ingredients without getting powder all over the place. Every press of the + button makes the mixer go faster - maximum speed is 16. The - button slows down the mixer. There is a Turbo button that takes the mixer up to 15 as long as the button is pressed. This is super nice for clearing off the beaters after you are finished mixing. Flip the power switch to off and the mixer stops. Flip it back on and the mixer is back at 0 again waiting for a speed command. That is all very safe and convenient.
Probably the single best feature, there is a small timer on the display. Yeah, no more looking at the clock trying to remember how long I've been mixing this cake. Right there on the display, now much time the mixer has run - it doesn't get much better or easier than that.
There is one incredibly minor gripe, I have a tendency to accidently press the Turbo button - the speed buttons are located in a place that is almost too good. I've had to learn to shift my fingers over a bit so I don't press that button.
I can't think of a single thing I would do to improve this machine. Oh, yeah I can think of one thing, make it less expensive. The mixer is a little on the high side. On the other hand, you get what you pay for.
The beaters did not self-eject. The booklet seemed to imply that pressing the Eject button would release the beaters and it does but they don't fall out. You must tug.
I had my old beater for 30 years and have had two high-end replacements which I returned for various reasons.
This one I'm keeping.
I really don't want to throw it away and have to buy another one since that just seems wasteful and as overall this had great reviews. I start wondering if I can get it repaired. It is fairly late at night at this point so I send an email to them, completely upfront about purchasing it used, asking if I can send it in to be repaired. After a couple emails back and forth and providing lot number, receipt, etc., I hear back saying they will it under warranty and sent me a free shipping label to return my current one and they are sending me a brand new one in return! Score!
While I've never dealt with their customer service before, this completely painless experience that far exceeded my expectations is definitely making me a lifelong customer. I've had great luck with my other Breville products and am sure that will be the case with my new mixer!
THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE RECALLED. IT IS CRAZY DANGEROUS.
I am amending this review after searching both the Amazon and Breville websites for replacement beaters. They are not available either place. This barely out of warranty tool is officially garbage as a result. Downgrading to one star.
