Enjoy a fresh cup of gourmet coffee, tea or hot cocoa in less than a minute, without any set-up or clean-up. The Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup Coffee Brewer brews a single cup of fresh coffee, tea or hot cocoa at the touch of a button with its revolutionary brewing technology. A patented showerhead delivers a precise amount of water through the K-Cup at an ideal temperature and pressure for optimal flavor extraction. Choose one of four brew sizes (11.25oz, 9.25oz, 7.25oz and 5.25 oz) and program the brew temperature with the easy-read, backlit LCD screen and easy-to-use controls. The backlit 60 ounce capacity tank brews up to 10 cups before refilling and includes an optional water filtration system to reduce substances that affect the smell and taste of water. Keurig's popular coffee, tea and hot cocoa brands offer over 150 different types of K-Cup beverages from 13 gourmet brands.
The best coffee is always the freshest coffee. That's why it makes no sense to brew by the pot: by the time you get around to drinking most of the joe, it's been sitting in a carafe (or worse, on top of a burner), going more bitter and stale with each minute. The Breville single-cup brewer takes a different tack. It makes coffee one cup at a time, so each cup tastes as fresh as the first one in the pot. Each cup is also 100% customized--by brew temperature, by grind, by varietal, even by cup size--so it's perfect for households or dinner parties in which everyone likes a different brew. Best of all, the brewing process is very, very difficult to mess up. The Breville's patented "showerhead" sprays a precisely calibrated amount of water through a "K-Cup," a technology made famous by Keurig's single-cup brewers, using temperature and pressure designed to extract the maximum amount of flavor from the grounds. More than 150 pre-packed K-Cups are available for beverages ranging from hot chocolate to organic dark-roast Columbian, produced by roasters from Tully's to Green Mountain Coffee.
Like all of this company's handsomely designed kitchen equipment, the Breville single-cup coffee brewer is aesthetically gorgeous and feels solidly constructed. It's made from heavy-duty stainless steel with a die-cast safety locking arm, and comes with an internal water filter system to remove impurities that can impart off flavors and smells. A backlit reservoir holds 60 ounces of water and can brew up to 10 cups before it needs refilling; the programmable LCD screen has a refreshingly easy-to-use interface. The Breville single-cup coffee brewer measures 14-3/4 by 12-3/4 by 16-3/4 inches --Mary Park

My second concern was about the noise and vibrations. It should not discourage you, it truly is minor, It only makes noise and vibrates when the pump turns on to fill the inner reservoir for heating and that only lasts 3 to 6 seconds. The heating and brewing are quite, not whisper, but quiet enough that you can't hear it a few feet away. The vibration does cause the coffee mug to move creating more noise. but I found if you put a paper towel or some kind of rubber pad it works well and eliminates the problem. I used the pad that is used under asian/throw rugs to keep them from moving, they have holes to let any spills go through and the mug won't move. I also used it for under the coffee maker itself to help quiet it even more.
Some reviews speak of splattering, I have had none besides maybe one or two on the back side of the brewer, behind the mug. This machine is great for coffee and tea but not for chocolate, the cocoa comes out way too weak, don't even try it, it's horrible for hot cocoa. Although you can dispense just hot water for making cocoa from a mix. I went to Breville.com and was able to download the user manual to better understand how it works, I recommend this.
The Breville looks to be well made, it is a beautiful machine with its blue backlights and top quality stainless steel, there doesn't seem to be a cheap piece on it, the tray is plastic but I think that's it. All the features work as described and are easy to set up, Amazon also has the best price at $254. I hope this review will help those who are on fence as I was when it came to buying this coffee maker, it is worth it. good luck
Now, back to my Breville Gourmet Single Cup Brewer, M/N BKC600XL, I love it, Period! I originally was intent on buying the Keurig Platinum B70 @ $169.95. It had everything I was looking for. But, then I spied the Breville BKC600XL and read up on its reviews, and decided on it instead. The price, @ $254.37 was pretty steep. But, I'm single and I want the best, when possible. I bought it from Amazon and it arrived quite fast, in great condition. I set it up and tried to operate it and had a problem. I contacted "Amazing Amazon" and told the lady about the problem. With-in the same week I received a replacement.I set it up and had my first cup of coffee. The whole operation was simply amazing. The coffee maker is beautiful, well constructed, has all the bells and whistles that I was looking for and the blue lighting in the reservoir and the programable LCD screen is pure beauty. I sure love that rich blue tone! This unit even has it's own "My K Cup" and scoop w/ the storage for them built right in on the top of the unit. I am so amazed at the strong, beautiful aroma when my unit is brewing. Normally you don't get that kind of great aroma unless you stick your nose into a bag of freshly ground coffee. It's intoxicating, making one even more anxious for the end product. As for the end product, you simply can not get a better cup of coffee! I will be trying out all the different flavors until I decide on which ones are my favorite. I also want to try out my good ol'e favorite coffee, Eight O'clock 100% Colombian.
As I said at the beginning, I am familiar w/ single cup coffee makers and the noise produced by them. This one is the quietest by far and to improve it even more, I have anti-skid pads under the unit and just fold a piece of Viva paper toweling in half and put it under the cup. I use a tall 12oz. clear glass cup and therefore I don't have to worry about the splatter that some reviewers complain about. Because Amazon is so fast, responding to one's problems, I already have the defective unit boxed up and will ship it out tomorrow. All of this happening within one week. Kudos go out, once more, to Amazing Amazon!
