Water Resistant and Built to Last Built to withstand the demands and wet environment of a professional coffee shop, the Brewista Smart Scale II is perfect for coffee and food preparation! With a water resistant nano coating inside and out, and a completely sealed body, the Smart Scale II can be kept on an espresso drip tray or kitchen counter all day long. With an accuracy of 0.1 grams, extremely fast response time and a capacity of 2000 grams, it’s designed for even the most precise recipes.	Manual Mode for Full Control Six different user modes are preset to fit whichever method best suits you. Mode 1 is fully manual and does not automatically start the timer or tare until those buttons are pressed, for standard scale use.	Automated Modes for Espresso Modes 2-5 are programmed for espresso preparation. In mode 2 the scale will automatically tare (zero out) when a cup is placed on the platform and the timer begins immediately. Mode 3 tares when weight is added to the platform and the timer is started with a press of the Timer button. In mode 4, the timer is not active, but the weight of the cup is automatically zeroed out. Weight is then displayed as it is added. Mode 5 tares the weight of the cup and the timer automatically starts to count up when espresso (or whatever you are weighing) hits the inside of the cup.	Achieve your Perfect Pour Over Mode 6 is programmed for pour over use. The Smart Scale II knows the ordered steps for proper pour over preparation, making it a terrific training tool for coffee enthusiasts and baristas alike. Simply place a brew vessel with a filter on the platform and the weight is zeroed out. Add and adjust the amount of coffee grounds you prefer, then press the Tare button. Begin to pour water and the timer starts and weight is displayed. In any mode 2 through 6, once the cup is removed, the last time and weight are displayed for 5 seconds. Time then returns to 0’00” and weight returns to 0.0g.


Convenient USB Rechargeable Battery The USB rechargeable Lithium-ion battery maintains a charge for several days with standard use. For heavy professional shop use, simply plug it in at the end of the day. Battery life can be extended with the Auto Off function that can be set for 1, 2 or 3 minutes, or turned off entirely. Please note: micro USB charging cord is not included.	Dual Purpose Protective Cover and Tray The Smart Scale II includes a protective acrylic cover that doubles as a bean or food tray. Great scale for the money, but could be better

I work in a medium-busy coffee shop. I bought this even though I wanted another Acaia Lunar. I like this scale a lot, but here are my complaints coming from the perspective of being an Acaia user for a couple years: the Brewista feels a bit lightweight. It has to sit sideways on my drip tray (la marzocco GB5) in order to fit. It doesn't slide easily on the drip tray. It tares a second or two slower than the acaia. All in all this is a very capable scale, but I'll probably replace it with another Lunar when I have the money. I would recommend it to anyone looking to start working with espresso recipes in a slower shop.

Great scale for weighing espresso grinds and pours. The different modes can be useful, for now the manual mode works best for me as I use a separate timer for the extraction. Like that it auto-tares when you turn it on and an item is already on the scale. Time-out setting can also be changed, which is nice. I purchased a measurement weight set to check accuracy (5-200g) and it's spot-on. We'll see how the buttons hold up over time, but no problems for the first couple weeks using this in a small commercial Cafe. Very happy.

Nice value proposition, but fails to deliver

I usually don’t leave reviews, but my experience with this scale has been so frustrating that I feel the need to voice my opinion. First off, it is cheap. Not as cheap as some scales, but it presents a very good value proposition. Battery life is great and it also has a slim profile for fitting underneath an espresso machine.

However, all of this is useless if the device itself does not work properly. I spend most of my time making coffee each morning getting this device to tare properly. Most of the time, the timer doesn’t even work (when I am on a setting that allegedly supports both timer and weight). That's okay, but the worst is that the weight shifts by itself! So I can tare the scale, look away for a few seconds, look back and the displayed weight will be maybe 10-20 g off! Really not that acceptable.

Not perfect for pour-overs

Accuracy is good, build quality seems fine, and it copes with heat well. I bought this for making pour-overs and I'm frustrated by the logic used to reset the scale/timer at completion in modes 5 and 6. Stirring the coffee can register a significant enough change in weight that the scale/timer are frozen and reset mid-brew. It happens sporadically without stirring, too. Surely it should only consider the brew "completed" once the measured weight drops below zero?

Update: knocking another star off this as I’ve had one too many brews spoiled by the measurement drifting

Update: 2 months in and I can lift up and place down the brewer and the scale will measure a difference of hundreds of grams. I could do better by eyeballing it. Worthless

I've been using the Brewista for about 6 months. It isn't perfect, but I don't think I'd go back to brewing espresso without it. Considering it's half the price (or less) than the Acaia I probably shouldn't even knock the one star off, but I don't like that when I remove the cup it never freezes the time/weight correctly. My review title sums up the best features but to elaborate on the water resistance, I wouldn't flush or rinse a cup on it, but don't worry about some coffee dripping or the E61 exhaust valve spray hitting it. So I remove it from the drip tray except when brewing. Oh, and another minor nitpick, is that changing modes is slow, so don't think you'll be using this to both weigh out your grounds, then transition right to the brewing. I have a $6 scale just for the grounds to save time.

I've been using this 2-4 times a day for pourover coffee for a year now. The battery has been recharged once, and is presently only one bar down from full, even though I forget to turn it off quite frequently. The timer is excellent, and works perfectly every time as long as you familiarize yourself with the tare protocol. It's expensive, but is the perfect tool for the job. Works as well for a liter caraffe with a hario 03 as it does for a single cup with whatever brewer you want. 10/10 would buy again.

This is the second attempt to find a good coffee scale, this one was worse than the first experience. I don't know if it's the way it's designed, or mine was just defective. Example, put it on automatic tare and weight, no timer. Start your grind, then briefly pause your grind, it immediately resets to zero and you have to throw your coffee away and start over. Worse yet, on the basic settings, manual mode, you tare your porta filter or receiver, then start your grind, 3 seconds later it starts at zero and begins weighing but that's after you already have 4 to 5 grams of coffee in your basket. throw that our and start over!! It. behaves randomly, so so frustrating, I'm sending it back today.

I wanted to love this, and I do really like this scale. I was looking to buy an Acaia but they were all sold out and needed an espresso scale for training purposes. I like how the modes are able to be set, which work really well. Unfortunately I did not have labeled buttons (or buttons at all for that matter). So my employees have to look at the picture of the scale to figure out which buttons are which, and I do not know if this will truly be water-resistant since the silicone covers are missing for the buttons. If this were for personal use - I would have no issue.
Otherwise great scale - cheaper that the Acaia. Unfortunately bummed its almost 90 dollars with no attention to detail.

Expensive but doesn’t work at a basic level

Initially looks impressive. The size is perfect to fit on my coffee tray, and I like the feature that it has a rechargeable battery.

However I’m sure if I have defective unit or not but the one sent to me could not give me consistent measurement. Sometime I would a cup on the scales and tare it. The scales would then reset to zero as expected, 5 seconds later it would then read out a random measurement up to 4kg when the weight hasn’t changed. I’ve had inconsistent results with measuring ground beans, and my espresso shot. It isn’t reliable, and as a item that is supposed to add more control to my coffee making, it doesn’t stack up as adequate for the simplist weighing tasks. The auto tare and auto timer function are also unreliable. Sometimes the timer would start until half way through a shot.

As this was at the top of my list for scales, and is definitely the priciest set of scales I was looking at. I simply cannot recommend.

I was actually using a Casio stop watch and a weighing scale I bought for a tenner from Morisons. When this thing came through the post, I was eager to get on Amazon and write a 1 star review - I thought it was just an unnecessary addition to my espresso setup.

I am glad I held off writing the review until I actually used this in action. It does give a similar result to the old method of stop watch and scale but it's much easier. I think over the course of 1-2 years, I'll easily get the value out of this product.

If you work in a coffee shop, this is a tool which will help a lot.

If you are learning the ropes and want a guaranteed way to dial in your shots, it's worth its weight in gold.
