More Instances of Haiku – Haiku being a form of poetry originating in Japan, composed of seventeen syllables set out in three lines of five, seven and five syllables each – brings together fifty poems written during the period September 2021 to January 2022.
It follows on from Instances of Haiku, published as an Amazon publication in January 2021.
These new poems provide a simple way to bring mindfulness to the day. They are ideal as relaxation exercises to give the brain a break and stretch the mind away from the routine of life.
More Instances of Haiku is, hopefully, a book of reflection for you to explore, engage, and enjoy!
Slow Lane Haiku is the result of a fusion between a fascination for Haiku – a form of poetry originating in Japan, composed of seventeen syllables set out in three lines of five, seven and five syllables each – and a love of coaching.
That said, Slow Lane Haiku is a book of reflection. Offering a ‘coaching’ perspective on life may spur us to consider choices for the sake of being our best.
As a CTI-trained coach, I am fortunate to work with individuals who appreciate success on their terms rather than those imposed by society.
For years I have been doing this without attaching a label to it. Nowadays, I call it what it is: ‘Slow Lane Coaching’, coaching aimed at helping clients move with mindfulness to their heartfelt career and life goals.
I write poetry as a form of encouragement for us all to embrace life and, yes, live our potential. Perhaps this goal will be reached. In any case, I hope you at least enjoy the journey as you make your way through these poems.
Happy Reading!
Do you feel you are rushing through life, missing choices and opportunities?
Tired of ‘going through the motions’ instead of ‘living your potential’?
Looking for more from each day beyond the race to keep up with society?
As a CTI-trained coach, I am fortunate to work with individuals who appreciate success on their terms, rather than those imposed by society.
For years, I have been doing this without attaching a label to it. Now seems the right time to call it what it is: ‘Slow Lane Coaching’, coaching aimed at helping clients move with mindfulness to their heartfelt career and life goals.
Life occurs moment by moment, and we should not be afraid to live it at our own pace. At times, this might mean travelling flat out. But then, there are also periods in which the journey from Point A to Point B, C, D, or Z deserves to be embraced and experienced, even as we implement plans to reach our goals.
I wrote this book because I wanted, within these pages, to offer some everyday coaching tips to help you give your best in all you do.
Combining with your existing knowledge and resources, this book can make the difference between ‘just going through the motions’ and ‘living your potential’ every day regardless of the ‘road you are travelling along’.
Throughout this book, I will be asking questions, so please pause and take as much time as necessary to reflect on them. Having a notebook handy to jot down your thoughts and considerations as you read this book could be a good idea.
I hope this book may provide a catalyst for further reflection.
Though I am experienced in the field of professional and personal development, you are the expert on your life. Implementation of any new thinking will, of course, need to be undertaken by you, I cannot do it for you.
With that said, let us begin.
Instances of Haiku – Haiku being a form of poetry originating in Japan, composed of seventeen syllables set out in three lines of five, seven and five syllables each – brings together 92 poems created for my Instagram account @bgdtcoaching during the period May 2020 - December 2020.
Despite the trials and challenges of 2020, Instagram proved to be a valuable source of creativity, especially concerning Haiku. Check out @pond.plop, @s.i.l.v.i.e.s and @wadesdailyhaiku, for example.
Perhaps deserving now of a wider audience beyond Instagram, Instances of Haiku is a book of reflection. It may encourage us to ponder various aspects of life, seeing them from a new perspective.
In any case, I hope you at least enjoy the words set out in these poems.
Happy Reading!
Haiku for Marketers. And yes, we are all marketers even if only of ourselves is the result of a fusion between a fascination for Haiku – a form of poetry originating in Japan, composed of seventeen syllables set out in three lines of five, seven and five syllables each – and a passion for marketing.
Each of these one hundred and sixty-eight poems here is focused on a specific aspect of marketing, in bold print for those of you who are curious to delve further into the concept.
That said, Haiku for Marketers. And yes, we are all marketers even if only of ourselves is first and foremost a book of reflection. Offering a ‘marketing’ perspective on life may spur us on to consider how we ‘market’ ourselves for the sake of being our best.
Ideally, the poems can be material to stimulate an exploration of values, attitudes and ideas associated with living our potential.
I write poetry as a form of encouragement for us all to embrace life and, yes, live our potential. Perhaps this goal will be reached. In any case, I hope you at least enjoy the journey as you make your way through these poems.
Happy Reading!
I write poetry as a form of encouragement for us all to embrace life and live our potential. Perhaps this goal will be reached. In any case, may you at least enjoy the journey as you make your way through these poems.
Setting out observations on various aspects of life, this comprehensive collection provides
a) Input to ponder;
and
b) Material to stimulate an exploration of values, attitudes and ideas associated with how we live our potential.
I hope this book becomes a catalyst for further reflection on life in general and your potential in particular.
With that said, it just leaves me to wish you Happy Reading!
From the preface of the Author
I wrote Heart Poems On Memories to add a more reflective element to the Heart Poems series.
As humans, we have the opportunity to experience each block of twenty-four hours in unlimited ways. Once over, the days pass into the memory bank, waiting to be recalled and relived. These poems tap into this data depository.
Poetry, for me, is a means of expressing ideas and thoughts. Heart Poems On Memories was inspired by both.
In certain instances, the source is general whereas, on other occasions, specific events triggered the memories to unleashed the words. Understanding exact details, however, is not a prerequisite to, dare I suggest, enjoying these poems.
You may choose to use these heart poems as catalysts to reconnect with key events making up your journey to now.
Starting with the inquiry ‘Do You Remember When?’ and concluding with the encouragement to ‘Recall, Relive’, these poems cover a wide range of sentiments.
Accordingly, Heart Poems On Memories could be:
a) the starting point from which to reflect on your experiences;
b) the opportunity to explore your relationship with past events and the like.
Additionally, you may choose to use the material as motivation to continue living your potential, moment by moment.
In any case, I hope you find this book enjoyable. So, not wanting to take up any more time, let me wish you ‘Happy reading’!

Daily we strive to achieve this or that. We focus efforts to take us a step nearer to our desired goals. According to the Oxford Dictionary of English, success is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose”.
Celebrating this important factor of what it means to be human, it felt right to ponder success in the form of poetry.
Individually, we know what success means to us. Regardless of our age, work status or general outlook on life, we will have experienced moments of success. It is this feeling of contentment, satisfaction or even relief this book attempts to capture in the form of heart poems.
Instead of setting out the poems in alphabetical order, I have left them in the order I wrote them to better reflect the flow of my thinking.
The collection begins with an introductory piece, ‘What Is Success?’ and closes with ‘One Final Thought’. In between, you have the opportunity to explore success through a wide-ranging offering of words.
Additionally, with this book, you have the opportunity to:
a) Read heartfelt words related to success;
b) Engage with success from a variety of perspectives.
Despite spending considerable time in the creative pipeline, this collection of thirty original poems is now available to you. Ideally, it will provide you with one, some, or all of the following: material for reflection, motivation to continue on your journey of success and enjoyment. If it accomplishes any of these, I will consider it ‘a success.’
So, without taking up more of your time, let me wish you a successful read!

“As the world is our home, global issues are by definition personal.”
In many ways, this collection of heart poems should have been the first of the series. The place we call home has significance greater than any words are able to convey.
That said, with these poems I have attempted to express a variety of sentiments we might feel represents, in a certain sense, the richness of home in our heart.
I enjoyed the creative process involved in writing these poems and I hope you find pleasure in reading them.
As with any form of artistic input, the value of this offering is to be determined by those experiencing it. With this latest collection of heart poems - the other books in the series can be found at my Amazon Author Page - the universally understood idea of the home is given centre stage.
With this book, you get the opportunity to:
A) ponder an eclectic set of perspectives;
B) reflect on the general meaning of home;
C) examine your idea of home.
Additionally, but of no less importance, is the prospect of you enjoying these poems.
That is my wish and fingers crossed it comes true for you.

Being kindly invited to collaborate with the new publishing venture Indies United Publishing House, I wanted to offer something novel to potential readers in the States and beyond.
As an Englishman living in Italy, it is common to hear many stereotypes about North America. National bias and a continental attitude towards our ‘Atlantic cousins’ cloud many a conversation.
Yet these things are only a tiny piece of the picture. The poems set out in Seeing America represent America as described, or at least experienced, by American friends, clients and social media contacts.
Each piece has been inspired with a specific person in mind, not that it is necessary to know who he or she is.
Ideally this collection of twenty-six poems, written in British English, provides food for thought as well as some pleasure along the way.
Seeing ourselves is never an easy exercise. Seeing ourselves as others see us is even harder.
This collection is, of course, a set of personal viewpoints. Reading these poems gives you an occasion to see America from afar, through the eyes of its inhabitants, filtered through my mind and heart.
The insights may mean something or nothing. Quite rightly the eventual interpretation is the personal responsibility of you, much appreciated reader.
In any case, I hope Seeing America becomes a catalyst for further reflection and input for you not only today but also tomorrow.
With that said, enjoy!

“How we manage the flow of work in line with the time available is an indicator of our priorities.” Brian Groves.
Whether looking for it, doing it or reminiscing about it, work takes up a large part of the day for many people. Accordingly, it seems fitting to add to the Heart Poems series with this collection dedicated to working in a general sense.
This book is aimed at setting out ideas, perspectives, observations and even a few insights, all for the sake of providing entertainment, enjoyment and possibly even assistance as you go about being who you are, doing what you do and letting your potential shine, also whilst working.
With titles ranging from ‘What is work?’ to ‘Noting it down’, the concept of work and aspects of it are explored here. Ideally, the words set out will connect with you in some way, leading to a knowing smile or one of those ‘Oh yes’ moments.
In any event, with this book, you will get the opportunity to:
a) Read heartfelt words related to work;
and
b) Engage with work from a variety of perspectives.
I hope this book becomes a catalyst for further reflection on the question of work.
Though I am experienced in the field of professional and personal development, you are the expert on your life and work. Implementation of any changes will, of course, need to be undertaken by you, I cannot do it for you.
So, happy reading!
