Let me start by saying I like some of Brice Marden's art and certain qualities about his work, however, this video presents little if anything positive. In general, I have a low expectation for any artist documentary, but, this one takes low to a new level.
The video quality is extremely poor (and yes I know it was filmed in the 80s) and is compounded with rambling, dull, and trite commentary from the artist. Marden tries to sound and appear sophisticated, but, his comments are not, or is the "art" featured in the film. The artist's comments are often punctuated with a creepy laugh as if he does not believe the drivel he just presented to the viewer. Alternatively, perhaps he is laughing because he has made a lot of money presenting drivel like this to buyers and dedicated followers of his work? I leave it up to you to decide.
The only redeeming value of this 20 minute chore to watch film are some pages revealed from one of his sketchbooks, but, other than that there is no need to waste your time watching this rubbish unless you want to see a comedy.
